Ok, so here is a Q - how do you know that the saddle you are using is the correct fit and how do you determine this?

I did the Durbanville race on Saturday and after getting home and taking the bib off I told my missus that the inside area between my butt and leg was sore - she had a look and it was bruised. So what can I do about it?

I am using Fissan paste at the moment as lube and has worked brilliantly since I have started using it.

I'd not use anything and then get the "missus" to check the "area between my butt and legs" after every ride :D

Your saddle/pant combination should give you NO ISSUES!

I ride EVERY day for about 2 hours and uses NO cream.

I have no bruising, discomfort, red whatever....nothing....

If this is not the case, change your combination.

Remember....an expensive bib short is not always the best short! ;)

Never ride with your underpants, that will make things worse!

I use Lanolin - bought a 500g tub from the pharmacy more than a year ago, and its now just below half! Cost R80. Stuff is great, will stick on you the whole day!

I think you need a new bib, not shammy cream. Why else would you "forget" to take off your, um, you know what? :P

Wow - yes I have to agree that is quite a candid admission for a public forum. How often does he give it to you and do you always using milking salve? Does he demand that you produce x litres before he stops?

I'm also a great advocate of Fisan - I figure babies' nappies get worse than our bibs. Hell, I certainly hope so!

I used to get back from long rides looking like this:

( * )

The ( and the ) being chafe marks on the outside of my butt. I cured it - I think! - by moving to a narrower saddle. Sounds like you might need to move a narrower saddle too.

But it's a minefield.

My prediction is that we will now have a bazillion posts telling you that this or that particular saddle is the answer.

Unless the advice comes from somebody with the same shape butt and skeleton as you have, ignore them, for they speak from their *.

Dude you cant fix a problem with a cream..

get a shorts that fits. Tight. not Slapgat.

then as they said, add some cream. Chamois cream, not other crap they telling you to use..
