Is that one way? Which way are you guys heading?

Howzit, yes, one way, heading past Brits. I don't know the route that well but my one mate that's coming with says that the route is past Lanseria, Hartebeespoort, Brits...onwards.

If you want to sleep over somewhere in Thaba we can look at places or I'm going to try and arrange with someone that I know to organise accommodation for the Saturday night.

Screw it, I'm in regardless..

PS no point advertising this on thehub, there are plenty people here who talk about cycling, few who do..

Damn! What time will you reach Thabazimbi you think?

No idea dude, guess we taking it easy and if it takes us 10 hours, then it's cool!

we just want to build up strength in the legs and get over the mental barriers.

Yes, good luck and most of all, enjoy. Hope you have a Garmin so we can check out the route and profile and maybe we can help refine it for future adventures such as this.

Howzit, yes, there is a Garmin so we could put up the route as well.

The itenerary is more or less as follows:

Depart: 04h00 from Sandton.

First Quick stop: Hartbeespoort dam for a bite.

Second stop: Brits for Breakfast.

Third: Lunch at Assen.

Fourth: mid-afternoon snack or something (by this time we would have lost our sense of humour).

Last stop: Thabazimbi.

If you join then we will have space for 2 riders, more than that, your spouse/partner/whoever will have to join you to give you a lift back...unless you want to ride back but then you're on your own!

This should be lots of fun. I have done this route a few times by car and I do think doing it on a MTB would be possible.

There's a railway line running parallel to the tar road for some distance from Brits onwards. The railway should have a service road which should be ideal.

Perhaps you can stop at Beestekraal station (check google maps) there is a bar/pub of some sort at the station, quite a popular stop for bikers.

Good luck. Enjoy.
