I did that in full view of a hub ride at NF last year. My excuse was that my ankles were still weak from an accident

  many many years ago, some may remember the rides that started and ended at the Lynwood drive in, I did the classic many have referred to 'unclip right fall left' right onto the coke table

The ladies manning it from the local church were not amused :(

Cleats are sooooo unfashionable. Retro is in. All the cool kids are going with clips (which really confuses the issue, because cleats are clipless, but cleats aren't clips).

practiced loads before my first ride, but...

a while back was wheeling down main road, looped it, somehow managed to unclip, landed on my feet and was like a skier, skiing on my shoes for like 3 metres before i stopped. was scary.

2nd: pinned a lovely manual at local dh course, looped it, bailed. next three riders behind me tried to miss me. luckily only had one tyre mark on my back. ha ha

EPIC FAIL ;-)

noob

My driveway carries multiple instance of evidence...it is a steep uphil, so I cannot coast in unclipped.....tired legs definitely do not make for splitsecond timing.....

Leaving Mugg & Bean in Stellies one day (in front of about 50 spectators) I clipped in on the pavement to roll down to the road and the next minute this lady comes from behind and knocks me off balance. In a split second I decided that I was not going down alone, so I leaned on this lady with my entire weight and stayed upright just long enough to unclip again :D

Also leaving the Mugg & Bean (Jamestown) our group was approaching the traffic circle when a car came from our right- the car turned left but the dude in front of me thought it was going straight so he stopped just as I was preparring to take off again. So a touch of wheels and I landed on the lavender bushes next to the road which were about 45-60 cm high :D The lady cyclist behind me says it is the fastest that she has ever seen a guy get up after a fall  Needless to say I had to ride home at the back of the bunch as I was smelling like lavender

I can do a track stand... for long... I don't need to unclip ;)

Yup, cars start hooting at MariusL to cheer him on when doing this.

He does it properly, without moving the bike

just ride past, and come back and unclip on the downhill... oh, you're tired

Reminds me of one day when I did a 25/30 k run. got back home, and realised I didn't take the correct key for the gate. Had to climb over with tired legs. Not nice.

sometimes mud gets stuck in the mtb pedals, always makes it interesting.

But the most i have fallen was when i started cycling on a roadbike (i later got a MTB)

of all the little falls the funniest and most humiliating was.....

i was fat, dressed in pink T-Systems kit and thought i was the ****.

i think i had even shaved my legs.

So anyway a mate and i are on my 1st over 50km sojourn around the cape peninsula, cruizing through camps bay and feeling great, i see this hot chick about to cross the road, so i up the gears, get out the saddle and hammer it past her (thats the only way you could see my calf muscles back then) while nonchalantly saying "Morning" , i turned my head to the left to check her out and as i do that an old bloke in an opel bakkie turns left in front of me, and takes out the front of my bike with the back of his bakkie.

The next thing i know i am skidding across the slow lane on my ass and helmet, looking back at the kidneys of a BMW 7 series coming to a stop. the embarrasing thing was that i was still clipped in and i couldnt get unclipped, so i am lying there in the slowlane practically having s3x with my bike to try get unclipped.

The hot chick hadnt even noticed me....she just carried on crossing the street.

I learned an important lesson that day.

track stand practice at stop streets and traffic lights...added pressure...and embarracement, mostly at the lights on Witkoppen in Paulshof before heading over the bridge...had lots of laughs and a couple of ladies offering their support...

Classic story this! :D

And sooooooo many options sprung to mind regarding the "important lesson" of the day! :P

think I posted a pick of the results of a fall last year about this time... Still have the scar to show off. That is when I cracked my wrist the last time...

Before that I fell at Babberton. Cracked wrist, finger dislocated and shoulder, cracked the shoulder as well. If I move my shoulder in a way you can still feel the damage I took that day... But at least I made it to the end... Oh and it is fun to push a shoulder like that back into place... So bietjie bietjie gepiepie in my cycling shorts...
