chinese carbon????

think you're gonna plain cardboard from those lot

Thinner than Cardboard? ;) Hmmmmm do not throw sticks and stones. The pictures bellow show a Cervelo that cracked parallel to the top tube. This is clearly a WORKMANSHIP ISSUE on this particular frame!I measured the thickness at the crak at 0.8mm with a vernier!

This DOES NOT MEAN CERVELO IS BAD! It just means that they had one bum crappy frame. The plus points are that Cervelo have the most advanced manufacturing method and carbon materials i have seen out of the variouse brands I repaired. This I can see not from the marketing hype but from the high fiber density, consistency in fiber orientation and finish on the inside.

If you are a "brand loyal" chap do not tempt me to give the low down of your chosen brand. Besides Cervelo, I have repaired Stevens, Raleigh, Canondale, Specialized, Giant, Bianchi and Silverback this year. Only 2 MTB though!

I have not seen any Chinese frames yet…trust me they too can break

Hi,

As CycleBuzz is mentioned in this tread (of which I am the owner) I think it would only be appropiate to shed some light on this much debated and controversial subject.

Some facts:

I did testing of these "Chinese" frames for over two years before I decided to import them, and never had any failure what so ever. In fact the response were so overwhelmed and positive that I am confidently extending the original 2 year gaurantee to a 3 year gaurantee as of 2011, and all the frames that have been sold over the last 2 years will automatically be included in this new gaurantee.

Even pro tri-athletes are using some of my TT framesets, not to mention the new sponsorship of a top pro team in 2011 (the team would be announced shortly) which will all be riding UZZIEL Zohar hardtails (that is what the carbon frames imported by CycleBuzz CC would be "branded" as) in the future. So, WATCH THIS SPACE!!!!!!!

Many hours were spent in the saddle of these bikes, I am riding a Carbon UZZIEL Zohar myself and it is also extensively used as the main test and demo bike, so far NO FAILURE of any kind. I did the 2010 Transbaviaans 230km extreme MTB race on this frame as well as all the training for this race on this bike. It took us 18 hours to finish this race and spent on average 8 hours on weekends preparing for this race. Surely if it was poorly build or bad material were used it would have failed a long time time ago.

In my search for a suitable carbon bike supplier, I made a shocking discovery that most of the carbon frames are made in China. These manufacturers are also not scared to mention for whom they are making frames. But I want to establish my own brand in SA at a very competative price, with not good, but with OUTSTANDING craftmenship quality and an industry leading gaurantee to back the frames.

I have even taken some of the frames for testing at a local carbon fiber specialist and were given the green light as far as quality and strength are concerned.

Some of the achievements of the riders who are riding UZZIEL carbon bikes.

Magoebaskloof MTB Challenge 1st

Ride Crater cruise 56km 6th

Outdshoorn 2 day stage race 1st on day 1, 2nd on day 2 and 1st overall

These results have been obtained by our first sponsored rider, who have been with us for only 3 months so far.

We at CycleBuzz are trying our best to make cycling in SA as afordable as possible, we also support the local cycling distributors.

Our bikes are not standard of the shelf bikes, we build every bike with passion and pride, according to our customers needs and prefferance. We give the customer what they want and need. Our bikes and parts are meticously scrutinied before selling them and above all we give only the best components, and the best value for money. Our bikes are truly unique in the sense that the customer decide on the components, the look of the frame etc. No one else in the cycling industry are able to do this, except if you are a pro rider. We will let you feel, and look like a pro at a fraction of the cost of a standard bike from a well named brand.

Look at the following amazing deals:

Oh,

Another thing to keep in mind when importing these frames is to have a supplier that you trust, and have build a relation with, and, that have been in the carbon bike bussiness for some time. My supplier have been building carbon frames and parts since 1998. It is a carbon bicycle ONLY factory and not a factory where they make al sorts of Chinese stuff.

looking at this....

This is our newest adition to our hardtail range, and are useing the newest BB 90 Botom Bracket, or PressFit as it is known by SRAM.

This frame is not a replica of any other brand, as some of the other frames. This is a unique frame and will get the attention wherever you go!

Under hardtail I see some names and prices but no pics. Under dual sus, road and TT I see nothing but a back button

On closer inspection I see the 3 headings on the hardtail page are links, they don't really stand out as links. Anyway, click on them and still no pics

Saw a chinese Dogma today, going for 7k. cant see the difference but im sure it wont be able to take the pressure from the big guys.

Uuh chinese "Dogma" weighs 2.2kg and you will feel like a **** in your starting pen. Kinda like driving a citi golf with merc badges and trying to pass it off as a merc!

Hi Gawie

Great to see someone trying to make cycling more affordable.

I think what the guys are looking for are the real test results you would have conducted as per international specs and norms, such as impact tests for front fork, torsional and lateral fatigue tests, etc. This would have been done during the development stage and will help your product greatly if you let everyone know that these tests where done and passed international standards. They will speak for themselves.

I think the guys are worried that if these tests have not been done then they are unsure about the quality and design.

This article seems to go round and round.

The guys who spend way to much money on there so called expensive frames are now kinda feeling crap or they are just ignorent of the fact that these frames are off the same quality.

Four years ago i brought in my first road frame, she weighed 980 gram. Build up and road her 2 years till some old drunk cow rode into me.That was the end of that frame and almost me.Ok insurance paid so i got a brand bike from a bike shop!Whoppie....

Then 2 years ago i brought in 2 carbon hardtails. One for me and the other for a mate of mine. They have stood up to all the beatings we have given them.I did the Attakwas last year and i'm doing it again in 2 weeks time again.

So guys if you have 2 much money to spend please do.Some of us work hard for our money 9in these hard times)and buy what we can afford.

Oh my dream bike is Specialised Epic but a dream as i havent got 75 000 lying around for a bicyle. In fact if you're not a sponsered rider and you're riding one I will think your'e a Wanker trying to get everyone to look at him.....

Who holds the design patents for the frame?

b-rad and gummibear,

Contact me on gawie@cyclebuzz.co.za or on 0827112991 for referances regarding these frames. Many of my clients are more then willing to share their experiences with these frames. I even have ex-pro's riding these frames and also a couple of future pro's that are using these frames.

I've dealth with Gawie @cyclebuzz. He's a great guy and I trust him.

I did an international Tri overseas in December and a few guys where riding chinese frames.

There are international std's and quality controls that these frames have to pass before they can be sold.

If I had the cash I would buy 2 new frames from Gawie, 1 TT and 1 Road.
