I have been mountain biking for a year now, however I have been borrowing a bike. I would like to get my own bike now and I have a budget of +-R5500.

A couple of features I would really like would be:

- Tubeless tyres

-Hydrolic Brakes

-Remote lockout

What are your recommendations?

Tubeless you do urself .

Brakes - Definitly .

Lockout - not really .

But sorry got no recommendations for HT bikes .

But do contact the people at www.buycycling.co.za for prices .

Got a full Suspension Orbea Flow Frame size 17"with SRAM X-9 components and Juicy Avid 3 disc brakes, with Alligator Discs.

Ritchey Pro crank, rear shock is an X Fusion 20RL. Front shock is not so hot though Suntour XCM.

Frame and components have 1 Argus MTB race on them.

Reason for selling, been retrenched and need the money to pay accounts.

R 6 000

Actually we just did a shoot with the Raleigh Nomad range of bikes. Well specced at the price www.probike.co.za should have the contact details.

Alternatively if you're willing to spend a bit extra at around 7k, theres the Serfas XCR I think, which has all the features you're after.

Ok, the lockout is not entirely necessary, I just thought it was a good idea.

I'm not interested in second-hand, I really want my own new bike.

I was trying to investigate if there was any decent Specialized bikes available, still unsure though??

Speaking under correction, but I think the Spez's might be a bit higher in price?

As for you wanting to go "new" - nothing wrong with that - but be sure you're doing it for the right reasons: there are some stupendous deals on 'as new' bikes out there, that will ultimately bring you waaaayyyy more bang for your buck!

Agree with Sharkie - get the GT. Google ghetto tubeless - you can do your own for less than R250. Specialised is more of a Mercedez Benz brand...

Specialized has bikes starting at below R4000 so how do you figure that its more of a Mercedes Benz brand?

NB the spelling on Specialized and Mercedes Benz...
