Fly unfortunately it only seem to be stage races at this stage . I stopped doing the Babaas races after they joined the dark forces . BUT a race organizer did phone me a few months ago and asked why I am not doing their events anymore . I did explain the situation and he told me the long story of why they have been forced to affiliate etc but I must please not let that stop me from entering . They will make the problem go away !

Not so lucky on my side.

Membership through Argus entry....no problem.

RACING license application done on 17 November. Klub approved, province approved and still waiting....

Current status is: 2011 - Racing License status :Awaiting CSA Approval

MORE than a month later.

CSA took my money but refused to issue the license if I did not send them POP to CGC.

Why do you need it issued ? Unless the race organisers are to lazy to check up on their system. They can't deny that you haven't licenced.

Sorry, let's say CSA refused to process my license and give me a number if I did not send them the POPs.

With all the posts about the complexity of obtaining a CSA License I started the process with some trepidation but surprise surprise it was quite easy and relatively cheap.

I am no racer so the cyclosport option was my target.

Step 1. Log on to www.roag.co.za

Step 2. Join Roag (free)

Step 3. Join Club Roag (R50.00)

Step 4. Log on to www.cyclingsa.com

Step 5. Apply for membership (R75.00)

Step 6. Wait for clearance from Club (took 24 hours)

Step 7. Wait for clearance from Provincial body ( took less than 24 hours. Well done Retief!)

Step 8. Log in to www.cyclingsa.com and download membership card.

Hey presto I have a license R125.00 and 3 days later.

A racing license cost R350 so how did you pay R125?

What you described above is CSA membership only and much easier obtained that the full racing license.

In other words you can compete in league events in your category but not in provincial, national or UCI sanctioned events because you need a full racing license for those events

Thug have you applied for CSA registration for next year.??

Not as of yet.

And given the new CSA racing regulations, I'm not sure I will.

Dear Spinnekop

I have looked into this and I have approved your membership personally today. I apologize for this - it is a fault on our side.

I have to admit that the system is waaaaaay beter than last year.I constantly get sms's as to what is happening and if things are aproved. If you have applied for a full license just make sure all is done on your side(club fees etc)and you get your license processed very quick.Just another note as has been said before the license is emailed to you and you must print it out.Much faster than waiting for it in the post.

That's correct as I said I am no racer (well maybe one day when I grow up!). All I wanted is to get rid of the day license issue and at R125.00 I have a payback of 4 races

What impressed me was the speed and simplicity of the process.

Rgds,

That is great Ciska!

I have also been battling with the "Provincial Approval" and contacted the various organizations individually but no one seems to know exactly who's responsibility it is to approve a license provincially.

PPA - said their name should not even be on the list for provincial contacts they can only confirm club membership.

WPCA - said that my club (ROAG) is not registered with them or the PPA so they dont know who should do it. I thought this would be the obvious organization to contact since I am in the Western Cape?

membership@cyclingsa.com - said that PPA should approve club level but was not very clear on who should do the provincial approval. From what I could understand whoever responded to my email was not part of CSA??

ROAG said today that they got in contact with CSA and sorted it out for me.

Could you please clarify for us who is responsible for doing the provincial approval and if they are aware of the process to be followed?

Tankman, a step I forgot to mention was that I sent my province representative an email when I saw that the process had reached that stage, it waited for club first (and by the way Roag was listed on CSA).

Although I had no direct response from province I did have provincial approval within hours of my email
