Pronutro is the bomb. Been a fan of the sliced banana trick for ages too.

Interesting story jkp, wonder why they can't make it cheaper then?

I know tigerbrands have tried a substitute product, don't bother its really ***.

I used to love pronutro!

There's a company here that imports it, but it costs a small fortune to get it. All this talk about biltong and boerewors is making me super hungry and homesick!

I swear by Pronutro. It can be eaten or drunk depending on how much of a rush you are in! Most of the flavours are cool except for the strawberry...what were they thinking! Mixing it with meusli is nice but mixing it with Weetbix is the bomb! I tried oats before a race but still prefer Pronutro.

Yes. For real. Round about the year 1970-1975. The company's name was Foodcorp.

Very interesting as a quick google brings up:

http://www.soyinfocenter.com/HSS/africa2.php (History of Soybeans and Soyfood in Africa)

"In 1962 the nation's second popular, commercial soy-fortified blended food, brand-named ProNutro, was developed by a South African private company without outside financial aid. Promoted to the native population as a versatile, protein-rich food, it had the second largest volume in the world for such foods after Bal-Ahar in India"

Seems Soyfood is very popular in Africa.

I don't know if it's urban legend, but when it was exported to Australia it had to be classified as a nutritional supplement instead of a cereal (presume due it being so fortified)

It has more protein, less salt, more vitamins and minerals, fewer unecessary additives and more fibre than most other cereals.

Only snag for me is it has milk solids in it so I tend to mix it with water to keep my milk intake down.

I actually read that on the Pronutro box last year. They used it for the Australian Olympic swimming team.

I'm not a serious cyclist but I've found Pronutro to work the best for me. I also use Xylitol (health reasons), and I find it works perfect.

The idea of bannana I should try.

Im giving xylitol a try this month but hell that stuff is expensive, you dont know where someone can pick it up cheaper than R50 bucks for 300 grams?

I'll try the ol' Pronutro with banana slices tomorrow for ma century ride.

For da 1st time.

It seems that it gets a "just fine" rating on this thread.

You can see what the kids on the Hub were fed when they were sub-adults. Daar is niks wat by slap pap, melk en heuning met 'n stukkie regte plaasbotter in kom nie. Ek vlieg my eie voorraad mieliemeel in Nigeria toe.

I agree 100%

You get what you pay for with Xylitol and not all Xylitol is equal - talking from experience.

Stay away from Natures Choice as theirs is crap. I used it for 3 mths and everytime I use another brand, "sweet nothings", I taste the difference and feel it. I crash on cane sugar so thats why I switched to Xylitol (tried Fructose for a few months but had some crashes too).

The cheapest descent one is from Diskem. I cannot remember the brand but it comes in 500g & 750g bottles.

But I buy the sachets, it might seem more pricey at time of purchase, but it works out more economical as your not wasting. One 5g sachet is all I use in my coffee and Pronutro and its all I need.

I found if you shred the cardboard box and chuck the contents in the bin it comes in the box tastes better.

SO WHAT DO YOU SMOKE UP THERE
