Hey guys, has anyone lost a Garmin unit along the 'spruit?

PM me the details of what, where etc and you can get it back.

The story behind the unit is quite cool (for SA at least) too.

I was cycling along the spruit yesterday and was stopped by one of the guys who lives on the 'spruit (under one of the bridges). He tells me he picked the unit up while walking along the path and would like to return it to the origional owner, but he has no idea what to do with it or how to get it back to the owner. He considered leaving it in the path but was nervous someone else would walk off with it. Anyways, to cut a long story short I gave him R100 as a reward (it was all the cash I had) and said I'd put a notice up to try and locate the owner. The guy seemed really genuine and (I think) was just trying to do the right thing, so if this unit is yours please keep this in mind. I got the guys details (cell no & he mentioned which bridge he lived under) and said that any additional reward (hint, hint, nudge, nudge) I got from the origional owner would go directly to him.

While I have no idea of his work ethic, he also mentioned that any work (gardening etc.) would be most welcome. If you keen PM me and I'll pass on the details.

You could try and contact Garmin Distribution Africa at 011-2519999.

If the unit was registered online locally they would have the details on record.

Alternatively it could be registered on www.garmin.com, and GDA could once again possibly give assistance with the correct email addresses to send queries to.

You would need the unit serial number which can be found on the unit body, and possibly the unit ID, by going to MENU, SETTINGS, About (type of unit) typically ABOUT EDGE....

Hope you can reunite the owner and his unit.

I am copying your post over to Garmap.co.za, which is the local garmin forum.
