The benificiary is irrelavant. It does not mean that because you give the entry fee to charity that you can charge double. That's your opinion, I disagree with it. Btw if I do argus this year I will have to go sub route.

There can be many reasons for people not starting the race and this system makes it difficult for those to recover their costs and also makes the entry VERY expensive for the new rider. Agreed, so many people want to ride so they charge what they want!

AFAIK despite all the free work from volunteers the race just about breaks even (lots of services to pay for on the day), but all the sponsorships provide a profit. This profit is split three ways between the lions, rotary and PPA. this revenue is then used for their own charity projects. ps. i didn't even bring up the well that's rich coming from the guys who bastardised the Chanel No.5 perfume branding vibe,

The Argus organisers are only after the money. From memory, it was always take over the entry from a willing party, pay a Subs fee - R100 or something, fill in form and you're sorted. Now they are doubling the cost for the late entry. The admin to change cannot be that intense. The result: a) The person trying to get rid of an entry will simply end up not being able to, despite changed circumstances.B) Peops will simply ride on the original entry details, woopy if its illegal. I am one of those having to get rid of two entries, because circumstances changed. Honestly, despite the beauty and vibe of the race (I have done 10), things like this makes me understand why I am moving away from road cycling and big races.
