Has anyone ridden SS at Teak Place?

I am going on Saturday on my SS and am wondering what gearing to use. Unless I get any major advice to the contrary, I am going to try it with my current 38-18 setup.

Any thoughts?

I was scared before, now I'm terrified!

LOL maybe a geared steed for your first outing is a better option?

I remember Thug walking a few hills the one race there!

Correct, was running a 32x16 (or maybe an 18).

Some of those short steep sections don't allow for any momentum to be built up, so when you can't turn the pedals any longer, get off and push.

I don't know the trail, but if you worried then just ditch the 38T and put on a 32T. Combined with your 18t at the back that should be just fine to get you around, bar the steepest or nastiest climbs...

OK, so I hit Teak place with my 38-18 and it was fine except for 2 climbs that I had to walk. Ideal would be a little lower ratio, like changing out the chainring to a 36 or 34 would be better - time to go shopping again.

Finally went back to Teak again today and did the blue route on my SS, 38 x 20 ratio, and it was perfect. I never walked a climb, not even up to the View Point. It's amazing what a bit more fitness can do, along with a slightly lighter gear.
