Guys help out here please. Im in big k@k. My wife has just let me know that she has an opportunity to go overseas with her old man for 3 weeks. My wife gives me all the freedom I require to do the sport that I love. Now for 3 weeks I need to look after my laaitie,

My 120km Saturday morning rides are gone, I cant even catch a quick power session in the afternoons.

My only option iss to ride on my trainer.

F@cking sh!t to ride your bike but go nowhere, but what can I do.

Give a few tips on how to do a training session on my trainer please. I think I have used it twice before cause Ill rather freeze my nuts off in the winter than ride indoors, now I have no choice. Im gonna die! All those hours in the saddle are lost if I cant train during this time. Help please

Get music, put it in front of the tv...anything to break the boredom. The nice thing is that you need about 75% (so I have heard) time on the IDT to obtain the same result. You can also accurately control your HR for those targeted sessions....but the frigging boredom is mindblowing....

lock them in the bedroom, make sure they have water and nothing sharp and go for a ride..

HAHAHA! What about babysitters? Aunties? Non riding mates? Surely SOMEONE can help you out Agent...youre going to lose your mind on that trainer...

oh come on don't be such a weenie and do the trainer thing. you will only get stronger in mind and body. i have found doing 1 minute intervals after 5-10 minute warmup followed by one leg spins of 30 seconds each breaks the boredom and gives you a super workout.

so 5-10 minute warmup

5 reps 30 seconds on leg and 30 seconds rest. (right leg 30 seconds both 30seconds left 30 seconds both 30 seconds)

followed by 20 1 minute intervals with 1 minute rest

and cool down of 5-10 minutes

you can always break up the 20 intervals with 10 rest 5 minuntes and another 10.

when i do muscular endurance i do 3 minute intervals with 1 minute rest x 10

Just man up, take it on the chin and look after your kid. I cycle 3x per week, and over a two week period 5 of those 6 times happens on the IDT, that is 4x1.25hours+1x1.5hours. This only so that I can be there for my son. Intervals will keep you IDT sessions honest, chase HR zones, do cadence drills.... You won't be able to watch whatever is on the telly!

Remember: Kids first, sport last, and a myriad of other things in between!

Someone posted these IDT workouts

https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/96980-idt-workouts/

All different type of workouts. Rollers, Hills, Slow Burning, Sweat Fest and more...

I downloaded it on my cellphone (MP3-format). It is a full on spinning class.

I find it quite challenging - but then again...... that makes it fun.

And a challenge always keep your mind busy while you body is working. :D

But do all the other tips fans, etc. Because yes.. you work hard and you will sweat :D
