Any recommendations for tyres for the ultimate mythical AM machine?

Track will be mostly dry rocky trails and down hills, but do intend to pedal up them hills.

Seems some of the dedicated 'DH' Tyres are great for going down, but have high rolling resistances. Looking for something beefy upfront (2.2" at least?) and a bit smoother on the rear.

Preferably stock for CWC and Buycycle, or CRC if I have to.

Thanks

So I took the Commencal! Purchased a brand new Rock Shox Sektor fork for it, and it's getting some of the components from my bike as well. When we're done pick'n'mixing, the final build will look like this:

Commencal Meta 5.5

Rock Shox Monarch rear shock

Rock Shox Sektor fork, coil u-turn 110-150mm, w/ 15mm through axle

Giant 60mm stem

Truvativ BooBars (20mm rise, 780mm width)

Lizard Skins Peaty grips

Truvativ Stylo cranks - being converted to 2 blade with Truvativ bash guard

DMR V12 pedals

Sram X7 front derailler

Sram X7 rear derailler

Sram X7 shifters

Avid Juicy 5 brakes

Alex SupraBH rims w/ DT Swiss spokes

Giant 15mm front hub / Formula rear hub

Ritchey 2-bolt seat post

Fizik Zeak saddle

LBS is building, picking it up tomorrow

Well done on an excellent choice. Fun on "All Mountains" is gaurenteed.

Send me a pic of the complete bike.

Oh for those of you in the 5inch travel market - just had a chat to the big guys at Omnico and they have a couple of GT Sensors left that ride flipping well!

- took this off the website - (Just because you've exchanged your spandex for baggies  doesn't mean you don't want a bike that climbs like your hardtail; just because you don't armor up doesn't mean you don't like to decend like a madman. The ultimate trail-bike, the Sensor takes agility, responsiveness, and effciency of a cross-country race bike, and adds more travel and a slacker geometry for inspired descents and more predictable line choices.)

Not sure on prices as of yet - but keep an eye out if you are in the market - 5 inches front and back and a weight of 12kg ... not TOO bad

I'm busy converting my Morewood Makulu into an All Mountain Downhiller.

From It's current state it's getting a Joplin Seatpost 12/36 gearing on the back and a 35 tooth chainring on the front.

I can't lock anything out but I suppose I can wind up the compression on my boxxer all the way up and do the same on the rear. I just have to remember to turn the dials back when I get to the top or it will all go horribly wrong when I point the bike in a downward direction.

I'm making these changes for 1 reason. I'm sick of pushing up at Tokai.

What tyres are you running on? Your rubber is also a big culprit when you're trying to pedal a heavy bike up the hill. I went from 2.1 to 2.35 Nevegals on my AM bike , and they are fantastic going down, but jeesh, uphill it's like riding with an anchor.

Just loose the one on the back, put on a Ardent or something that rolls quickly. It will make a massive difference
