That is a surprise - he did not look himself on Le Tour where a lot was expected of him and he faded into the background behind his team mate - the silent assassin - Uran.

A source close to the team was unable to name the sponsor but did suggest that the financial backers will be from outside of the bike industry, and that this will be their first venture into a professional cycling sponsorship.

 

Whether this company will supply the full $7 million said to be needed to save the team is unknown, but it is expected to be a sizeable amount therefore securing primary naming rights of the team.

in terms of sports sponsorship, $7m is not that much. I reckon Oleg had so much fun owning a team, cruising round all these awesome places. Compare that to how much abromavic had thrown at Chelsea, cycling send so much more bang for buck.

Now we wait, wonder who it will be, the riders must be happy - a lot of them would have battled at this late stage to find a ride for next year apart from Uran and a couple of others.

COOL UPDATE

 

On Thursday team management sent an email to riders indicating that all 2018 contracts will be enforced. In the note, team CEO Jonathan Vaughters said: “As of right now, I am informing you that if you have a contract with Slipstreamsports for 2018, we are enforcing your contract. More to come.”

 

VeloNews reached out to team staff for comment, and have yet to receive official word on the news..
