@ Pain or Shine

Btw, the Lid's not shiny and it prevents pain.

Let me know when, I'll join the chain gang & throw in hardy transport.

Should'a worn it on my leg. My knee is the size of my head now!

Be interesting to see how many follow this thread and ACTUALLY pitch in..

Actual comment last week.

The picture: Three guys, broken trail, 1 broom, two spades and loads of sweat.

Rider: "What are you doing?"

Three guys: "Fixing the braking holes"

Rider: "Oh, can you do something about the soft stuff too?"

Three guys: "?!"

Additional requirement: Bring your sense of humour!

Hi this sounds like a great idea id like to help out aswell especially since Ive been riding alot in Tokai lately. I think if mountainbikers do the repairs then we will get better trails in the end, and also some more respect for the trails.

I also think that its about being an XC'er or DH'er I think it all comes down to being responsible when riding and staying off the brakes for a while! On the other hand I like to see people trying out new things so maybe some skills clinics are in order that actually teach people how to ride singletrack properly? You cant really blame a beginner for skidding to much when they're still in the learning phase trying to figure out on their own what to do since thats where everyone started right?

i wonder if we could hang a banner at the entrance to the reserve annoucing track maintenance days one week in advance. might get more non-hubbers involved...

NOT, that would be seen as advertising and for that you may either have to pay, or the easiest is just to say no and management will avoid the issue completely.

Politics!

There are other means and we are in the process of getting a site running with plans/extensions attached. Stay tuned.

Good on you!

We've had trucks off-loading 80cubes of clay, it's how we roll baby! A water truck may also be available.

Round up friends, colleagues and riders. A date will come from availability of resources and sufficient numbers.

and a digger? :D

seen some really small ones - would be great to shape the area below the big berm/end of dh.

Which company is this? Do you have any details? Much easier dealing with private co's than govt.

That would be Safcol managing Tokai. MTO manages the area around Grabouw.. Unfortunately forestry has no jurisdiction over the ground it grows it's trees on, the land and its use is managed by Sanparks.

..Digger? That'd be us! The more people who pitch on build days, the bigger the scoop of the digger! (I see volunteering stopped abruptly. That's odd coz I see more than 5 people on the mountain on weekends. It could just be that there are 5 Tokai hubbers??)

Imagine if we had private land.. that would be cool!

Wish I could offer private land, but I'll just dream on!

Looking at what the Tygerberg Mtb club achieved at Meerendal/Contermanskloof/Hillcrest, it would be wonderfull if some of the Constantia wine farms were as open minded. Imagine a route through Groot Constantia (public property, I know), Klein Constantia, Buitenverwagting and linking up with Tokai.

Any wine farmers on the Hub that know who to talk to? (I only know which wines to drink!)

Just came back from Tokai and its getting rutted to pieces up there with loads of soft sand all over. On the Our roots trail there are some serious holes where guys have locked up their brakes. Will be interesting to see the trails after the Epic.

Are volunteers still needed to work on the trails?
