  1. Are the bicycle torque wrenches even rated to 40 Nm?
  2. Natural Selection in a few words...You stupid, you die
  3. I swear they were that price when I made the post...
  4. WOOT...rep from Alligator was in my LBS this afternoon and they have new green hoses with fittings Should be fitted on Monday Awesome!
  5. Yeah, HUGE pity...I need one 203mm and one 185 mm in red... Will match spoke nipples, pedals, rebound screw thingie, jockey wheels and cassette
  6. If I were running 160mm rotors I would DEF get these... http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/alligator-windcutter-disc-rotor-colour But for the "bling effect"...I really like to look of the wind cutters, and these are awesome in diff colours
  7. First trail looks NICE Just a little crowded...I have to go ride there next time I am in CT...would like to just session it the whole day ... but LOT of riding uphill over n over
  8. I just had to replace me G3 203mm rotor...R400 later I was also wondering about the Alligator, but my bike mechanic friend reckons the G3 gets better power out of the brakes.I think he also mentioned something about pad life. Anyway, dunno if that helps much.
  9. Started taking Glutamine (USN as it was a spur of the moment purchase) abour a week before Karoo to Coast... Now granted I had only ever ridden 60km on dirt before and I was riding on my new 15kg 160mm travel all mountain Specialized Enduro... I took LONG to finish...BUT I had NO cramps, NO muscle pain after the race (even next day)... I am convinced the Glutamine works. It really helps to prevent muscle damage during training as well. It is an "anti-carbolic amino acid" so basically (if I got this right from my GF who knows these things) it is good for you (ok, I forgot the more scientific explanation, but I'm a geologist, not a zoologist ). See this thread http://www.thehubsa....4579-glutamine/ Cheers all
  10. OK...so went to LBS and weighed it... 15.06 kg with saddle bag (2 tubes and levers) and water bottle
  11. very big! And if it is a Specialized then it is Godzilla big! My M Enduro seems huge
  12. lol lol lol
  13. Exactly...never tried gripshift myself though... http://www.buycycle.co.za/buyparts/shifters-mtb/sram-en-2-3/sram-x.0-twist-shifter-set-sram.html
  14. Chris Willemse Cycles www.buycycle.co.za they got a great special on the Parktool pro thingie toolkit http://www.buycycle.co.za/buyparts/tools-bicycle/parktool-en-2/park-tool-advanced-mechanic-tool-kit-ak-37-parktool.html They just take a while to deliver...i.e. order today and you will probably get it Monday
  15. Nobby Nic...on special at CWC...Only R299 (UST as well...might get me some spares) http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/schwalbe-nobby-nic-ust-tyre
  16. I'd take a Silverback over a Raleigh any day The Silverbacks have character I see a Raleigh and I still think it was bought at Deon back in 1992
  17. I had a Nabraska (Silverback)...it was AWESOME Dude, tbh, I do not think you can go wrong with Silverback...But they guys at George Cycle n Sports are a bit strange to talk to about bike...esp the owner seems rather unapproachable. Anthony (tall guy) is cool so if you are interested in the Silverback, speak to him... Otherwise head over to Julien or Vickus (hope I spelled that correctly) at Coimbra...they will surely have something good in your price bracket. I know my boss is buying a Merida there soon and it is super well specced for the price, so you may be pleasantly surprised... Nowadays I just go there because I get the best service and advice and they always have stock of things and will get in under a week if they don't Lol...that sounded a lil like a sales pitch
  18. Hey man, thanks However, I am told the Avid compatible for Jagwire currently only means the Juicy range and not Elixir It seems the Goodridge hose is compatible, but might be a mission
  19. Hey man, thanks. Any idea if these are compatible with Avid Elixir? http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=2938 Cheers
  20. Howzit guys. Do any of you have any experience with replacing hydraulic hose on Avid Elixir brakes with aftermarket coloured hose? I REALLY wanna get some green hose, but don't know where to 4k to start
  21. Bump bump anyone...?
  22. I just switched over my insurance for house, car/etc to Alexander Forbes specifically because of my bicycle. They cover everything...and at a VERY good price too (R85 or so a month for a R30 000 bike). Other places were like in the region of R250, and my (soon to be) previous insurer didn't even want to cover it for the occasional race I do. Basically Alex Forbes has very similar (the same from what I can tell) to what Cyclesure offers...Except that it's a lot cheaper. Email Mokhele there for more info on likatem@aforbes.co.za. Cheers, Cuan
  23. Anyone else have any comments? Does anyone else even use coloured shifter cables and hydraulic hose? If so, where did you get it and are you happy with it?
  24. Yeah, def will do, but gotta wait for hydraulic hose, grips and cassette to come from CRC as a buddy of mine was ordering from them and I am tagging along on his shipment But fook me hydraulic hose is like R90/m At least the cassette is only like R450, which is way cheaper than here in country...just hold thumbs for customs charges
  25. Yeah Going green with cables and grips. Pedals have some red, cassette (new PG990 when I put it on) has red, fork has red and will get some red KCNC jockey wheels. Think I will change the crank bolts to red/green...depends though cos I don't want my bike looking like a burnt (black) christmas tree (red + green) So gotta be careful
