  1. I would tell you, but she said telling you anything is Forbidden. I'm not sure why though. I suspect it's an inside joke only certain folks know about.
  2. West Coast Cycles in Sandown by the Checkers Hyper is not badly priced and the service is good.
  3. Barones are the only reason I manage to have enough oomf to ride my bike to begin with
  4. Can I PLEASE set the record straight? I live in Cape Town, and I am yet to encounter this anomaly called lunch. I work 27 hours a day, 12 days a week. The reason I am as fat as I am, apart from my wife faithfully smokkeling foodstuffs I shouldn't eat into the house, is because I am unable to ride my bike between 1 and 2 in the arvies. That, and I live too far from the trails, and riding tar is for people who haven't tasted the thrill of pointing a mountain bike downhill in anger. what were we talking about again?
  5. @Jewbacca thanks for that. First time I hear about it. Will check it out.
  6. I feel I'm missing some crucial piece to the puzzle here. AR ? cp?
  7. You can set components and service intervals, and it records your metrics from Strava to update you when services are due. It also gives notifications if enabled.
  8. This is a must have app. I've been using it for quite some time.
  9. Just read that had a good chuckle
  10. Laps down Paarl DH for some alternative entertainment. The Stumpy EVO just slurped that up and wants more. These chaps left me in their dust, but that's what you get on a DH track without the requisite safety gear.
  11. I'm on the border between L and XL but opted to go XL/S5 as I'm not sure if L/S4 won't be too cramped on the Evo. My choice was good as the S5 feels similar to my Camber and rides very well. It is very fast and loose. Everything I wanted.
  12. Oh boy can I tell you a story having just splashed the cash, but I won't be bad mouthing anyone on here, so I will just say nowhere is safe anymore.
  13. Leave wiggle room in your budget for the following; * Helmet (don't skimp - all helmets are not equal - you only have one head) * Shoes / pedals * Bib / Shorts with a chamois insert (your ass will thank you later) * Gloves (for when you come off) * A multitool (and learn what it's for and how to use it) * Spare tube (and how to insert it into a flat tyre) This should tie you over until the bug bite has infected you to the point of addiction by which time no one will take responsibility for the ensuing huge hole in your budget. Go forth and enjoy!
  14. No, I'm not that pedantic. You have to ask to follow me though. I have friends and family who follow me from the early (good ole) days. Most Kudos I've ever gotten was 8. I had a KOM once at Meerendal which died many moons ago. There was a time when Strava really made sense to me. That was when I was able to measure my efforts and times in segments to all other recorded persons. Since that fell behind the paywall and only for comparing to other paying members it stopped being "fun". I paid for it for one season, didn't see the value to renew and have been a free user since. And to my dismay the feature list available to non payers shrinks every year, but I've not been enticed to pay again, so it seems this tool might end up on the shelf pretty soon as well.
  15. I only use Strava for one purpose and that is to keep track of my rides for service intervals. I like to know stats on hours ridden between services so that I can keep the bike in top shape for those parts you can't visually inspect such as suspension etc. Then I get a personal kick on seeing how much elevation gain I managed in a year. The rest is not really important enough for me to want to have the paid version.
  16. Looks like the rumours have been settled. Greg will be riding Norco from now on. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C1pOstzOYnl/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&igsh=ZDNlZDc0MzIxNw==
  17. I was riding at Conters earlier and suddenly had a burp which I let out seeing as there was no one around. Suddenly, two of these critters started making a racket and tried to flee the scene. I had a good laugh since they probably thought I was attacking them.
  18. Ja, the main thing is to get out of your own head and to trust yourself and the bike. I've done much bigger jumps but out in the wild everything looks bigger until you commit and go for it. The Leatt drop is different. You don't hit it with speed and drop the front instantly after leaving the pallet or you're going to go deep and that sets up the berms wrong. I'm used to the pallets on the Rhinos so these are probably similar.
  19. The drop is not the issue. It's the landing straight into a set of stairs that immediately flings you into a sharp catch berm where you are able to brake for the first time. I am happy to film others doing it.
  20. Rode the Revised Enduro line at Conters yesterday. What a treat. Those rocks were sublime. One of the mates even gapped that gap... VID_20231230_102515.mp4
  21. Nice, but posting NSFW pics is Forbidden.
  22. Precisely. Some folks are just either too stupid to understand what the rules are, or they do know and just choose to ignore it, or worse, alter the interpretation thereof.
  23. Yes. Typo. Still doesn't change the fact that a car STILL has to STOP regardless.
  24. "Yield for incoming traffic" That is what the sign says. STOP means stop. There is no getting around that. If you cannot distinguish the difference then there's no point in debating further. Context: when there is an oncoming car heading from Melkbosstrand to Big Bay then you'd expect a car standing at a stop to remain stationary until the oncoming car has passed. If a cyclist passes at that same time then the car ought to keep still.
  25. I'm not really able to comment about Durban. Maybe in town and surrounds around the beach front and stadium? I don't know the area too well apart from business trips there.
