  1. So, saw this.... let's call it surprising, debit order notice from my bank. Looked into it, and it is this subscription for Rouvy. Now, a while ago some enterprising entity took some money out of my CC account, from an old canceled card I'll have you know, I suspect inside job at the bank, but, since then, I do most of the transactions, especially online, with the virtual card, it changes the CVV every month... so anual subscriptions, welcome to scrutiny. This debit order kept failing because of the VC. No biggie, I like Rouvy, use it often enough, so quick log in to update the payment and!!! FWT!!! How, in all the glory of all things Greta Tunder McNuggets did this become so expensive? I'm not sure if I want to cry, or visit the whiskey, and then cry! Wow. Euro creep is really a thing..
  2. Please post warnings on groups. Received last night. URGENT WARNING An armed robbery and attempted murder case was opened today when 2 cyclists were robbed at gunpoint at around 12 noon by 3 robbers. Various shots were fired and a bakkie was hit when the driver teied to intervene. Nobody was injured l, but 2 Bicycles was stolen. Scott Spark 910 2015 model, see pictures and Trek Superfly 100 2015 model With cellphones and toolbags etc. Opposite Rosema bricks on the Moonlight road just before the R21 bridge crossing. Please be careful where you ride. We were blessed to be kept save but if the driver of the bakkie did not try to intervene, it could have been much worse. BE SAFE, BE AWARE AND CYCLE IN LARGE GROUPS WITH ESCORTING VEHICLES..
  3. Hi All, Okay no specific details, and the family will share more about this when they are ready. I am, with the approval of the family, sharing the following. Two male riders was shot at, held at gunpoint and robbed. Please be on the lookout for the following two bikes. I tried to post on stolen bikes but I do not have all the details. Sorry Admin. Bike1. Carbon Scott Dual Sus, Creamy white and dark blue. Bike2. Carbon TREK Dual Sus, Gary Fisher design with Signature on back. Crank Bross wheelset. I'm trying to get more details on what will make them stand out, but limited contact as phones etc was stolen. Both gents are okay, obviously shaken, but they are okay. I will post more details if needed.
  4. 100% on point. Good interactions and happy with past purchases.
  5. If you don't mind, take a pick of the Cassette and chain, with the link please, and post here. Had a similar issue while back...
  6. Was next to you last year, at TELL. Looked like fun!
  7. Sooooo..... Do we at least get a 10mins headstart if you rock up at the start in the original Crater Cruize, Ride Mag shirt?
  8. Also few years on MTB, had a similar scenario when looking for a Gravel. I had a few hard stops though. 1. Hydraulic brakes. 2. 2x Settup, wanted the versatility. 3. Absolutely had to be new. 4. Budget 30k I got a lot of flack because I didn't go 2nd hand, but really not a fan of 2nd hand carbon, too much a hit and mis in my experience, and no, I won't take a sellers word that " it is spotless, never offroad, was my grandma's bike etc..." So, shopped arround and got myself a Scott Speedster 20. Yes, not carbon etc, but fit my criteria, and love the bike. Been riding it lots, some gravel and Road, and guess what. Absolutely love it. Yes there is maybe better, lighter, more blingy machines out there, but mine works great. Would've loved the Titan, my MTB is Titan, but, couldn't get one that worked for me. (Not a fan of that groupset) Sorry Titan.
  9. Love this ride, We tend to stop at one of the other venues, Vista, ride in, do a few Kays, then back with a loop of cradle thrown in, etc. Nice for putting in the Km's and a bit of scenery. I pay upfront via EFT for a few rides and top up again once I've done them. Oh, and raced a few Jackals/warthogs at the top of the farm, lots of fun.
  10. Always used Island Tribe. Got a history of bad burns (surfing when we were younger without any protection messes you up later in life). So I use this on my face, neck, ears etc, and the same lip balm (Island Tribe) and keep it on me when I'm on the bike (in the feed bag on longer rides). Works for me. Arm legs, spray on technibloc 50
  11. Hi All, I'll start of with, Who or whatever designed Racetec Website, should host a course in web design titled, "How to make a, not user friendly web interface" In the obscure bowels of the website, log in, on the menu, click home, this is after you have logged in of course... Select the menu again, seeding, road, select. Then, weird page where you have to put in your name and surname again, then it will give you a list, again, of everyone remotely spawned with the same name, you have to select yourself, ID number, enter. It will take you to you index calculation. Hope it helps.
  12. Just an interesting side note to this topic, When I bought my previous MTB, 2021, King Price insurance was included for three months, and I changed it over to my Santam Household as I don't like ransomware tactics. (you have to have xyz covered for minimum xyz etc). Sure, they have a business model (KP), and I was happy to stay with them and even pay the full premium, but the marketer said it was not possible unless I moved my home/car etc over to them, so it(bike) moved to my Santam (home) policy. Fast forward a few years, and due to my work, I now have access/insight to very good insurance brokers. Before the holidays I looked into changing to one of the brokers, just seeing the service and effort they do in other fields and am impressed, so off to change we go. I sent my current policy to them for input and quotes etc... So, they turn around and tell me about the specific Santam product, certain min spec criteria to meet, but, in a nutshell.... Home value is on par, house content increased. 30% of home content covers "out and roaming " so in other words, I have blanket cover for all items outside the home for X amount. So I got blanket cover for this amount, a new bike, accessories all items up to that amount which I do not need to specify should I suffer a loss in one incident. Of course, any items worth more than this ammount need to be specified, but, I can't foresee an issue there. (two bikes on the rack in an accident have sufficient cover) Now for the fun part, I dropped all the previously specified items, phones, laptops, GPS, bikes etc, and now, I have full cover. And the best news is I pay slightly less because my broker worked their magic. Before any naysayers slaughter this, I have some other friends who turned out to have the same product and had made an involuntary contribution one evening during the holidays, with no issues with their claim. So go ask/shop around, ask questions, say what you want/need and look into options. Sometimes we do come out on the other side slightly better, it does not always have to be endless increases and headaches.
  13. 94.7... first ride, not my first 100k ride, so.. Nice chilled beer stop aaaand.... go
  14. Okay, all caught up. So where is the project, what is happening?
  15. Okay, so quick question. I ride, some might say more than the average person. But, to have all the points etc to just get an occasional coffee(which it looks like I won't be getting anymore because I reached the points cap). or, Have a ton of "Miles" I can't use because I refuse to be bullied into opening an account at their bank. After a lot of investigation and a call center more interested in closing queries fast rather than helping, I still can't see any real benefit. And last thought, I hate spending time in a Gym. So no benefit there. So why should I keep Vitality? Is there still a benefit to Cyclist?
  16. Just get that dual beauty you've been eyeing... your wife will understand.
  17. Getting her ready for her first playdate tomorrow 😀 More pics.... to follow
  18. Soooooo..... @Titan Racing Bikes If I post a pretty pic of my new Carbon Empire MTB... can I get a matching Road Empire to test for 12 months?
  19. Well, if no one else will... received it yesterday, I believe this beast, still to be named, is a fine example of locally sourced pleasure and will provide a lot of fun for the significant future.
  20. New member to the Family, so sweet and peaceful before she asks for a bottle. #couchpicsisathing
