  1. Yesterday in the storm was the straightest home - 13 km with 300 ascent. The funner safer routes (less tar) via the Spruit is anything from 25 - 35km and ascent anything from 400 to a bit over 500.
  2. Yesterday afternoon's commute home was by far the wettest this year. Took shortcut home all the way on roads and pavements. At least the bike was clean when we got home.
  3. Where in Pretoria did you commute? I worked at Unisa and lived in the east and I don't think there was any flat route between the two. Or maybe I just forgot
  4. Not sure if Strava can. On Endomondo I have seen number of workouts. I've set one up on http://www.endomondo.com/challenges/39209519
  5. Did you come right with Endomondo? I record on Garmin which auto-suncs to Strava. From there I uses Tapariik to auto-sync with Endomondo.
  6. As far as I understand it, something every day. So ideally the leaderboard should show number of active days in the year. Do you know if it's possible to set up a challenge like that on Strava?
  7. A 2 one-way commute will easily get you there if you do it a few times a month. It's great motivation to get out there.
  8. Also signed up. Day 4 of 365 done. 361 to go.
  9. First commute for the year. Spruit very green. Still a bit wet from the new year downpours.
  10. Chrome. When I get to the Vitality link, I get the following error message: Sorry, but an error has occurred. Our technical team is probably already hard at work trying to fix this problem, so please try again later.
  11. 'Got out and Commuted' always beats 'Still on Holiday' I should take a screenshot - will probably be the last time this year I'll be in the lead
  12. Is this going to roll over to 2018? How do I join?
  13. Once a month we have staff birthday lunch. It's usually a curry that the CEO's PA cooks. Together with it, a chocolate cake with caramel filling that Nancy Drew's company supplies - easliy the best cake I've ever eaten.
  14. The last few times I moved office, I went to ride the route on a Suturday afternoon to see how long it takes and what the road surface and pavements look like.
  15. Takes about the same time if I go shortest route. - saves fuel - starting a week on a Monday morning with riding singletrack - arriving at the office in a good mood - ending the week on a Friday afternoon riding singletrack - arriving at home in a good mood - getting to ride often with mr Cat-i (he sometimes commutes with me) - saving time because I don't have to ride before/after work to get some training in - relatively easy to make the weekly vitality goals. Sometimes if traffic lights are red too long I have to watch the average heart rate, but I will anyway get another chance that afternoon
  16. Sorry to hear It will be hard. My brother said some days it was hard driving to the office. One of the dudes in a previous cycling group cycled and ran throughout his treatment, but it was also very hard. A positive attitude like yours should help a lot. Your oncologist and your body will tell you what is possible. Wishing you a speedy recovery and thinking of you during this time.
  17. A long time ago when I worked at Unisa I arranged to shower at the student gym at the campus next door. And every start of student winter holiday I waited and waited for the winter water to get a bit warmer before realizing that it's end June and this water will stay cold for a month.
  18. I' lock my bicycle to a pillar in the basement between other cars. Haven't had any incidents since we moved into this building about 5 years ago. In the beginning I received a few notes on my bicycle about the bicycle racks outside, but I ignored it and the notes went away.
  19. Late response - was in Madagascar. By now all the newspapers test drove it, but my personal opinion: - Loved the gutters on the roof - no more rain straight into the window (I got wet from that just a week before the demo) - A lot more stable on tar road at 130. They didn't take us on uphills to test if you could pass another car - probably still not. Also didn't experience cross-winds. - I didn't like that the steering wheel was so sensitive at 130. You'll probably get use to it quickly. - On the non-entry levels a nice little rack in the boot to level up the packing space. With my Jimny we just pack sleeping backs or small bags in that space to achieve the same. - The boot is about 80 litres bigger, but still tiny. It's not a family car. - The first pictures I saw I found them ugly, but the shape quickly grew on me! - The biggest thing is probably the traction control. We drove around the 4x4 course at Bass lake. First the current Jimny had to go through each obstacle, carefully picking a line, and then the new Jimnys followed - just point the nose and go. Very impressive on cross-axles.
  20. Really hope so! But they posted an hour ago about bad ITB. That direction looks very deliberate on the way to Hellbourg.
  21. Haglofs Silva, Avaya, Naturex all nearing T1. You think they will risk going out, and possibly have to sleep where it can't be counted?
  22. Looks like Painted Wolf is out
  23. Last night when they went to bed after the prologue they were second in the world champs
