  9. Thx for the update, Shebeen - especially since the twitter-updates were scarce last night, and the live tracking wasn't working. Do you know if Glenn was sick, or just needed the rest?

    How fast

Randburg to Sandton, 53 minutes in the mornings by montainbike, 1 1/2 hour in the afternoons (I'm taking a longer more scenic route in the afternoons). By car between Xmas and new year 20 minutes, any other time or the year anything from 1-1 1/2 hours; 2 hours on rainy days.
  14. But it may get the message to other road users to respect each other - at least it's a start.
  15. two of them got arrested yesterday; probably in court today http://ewn.co.za/2014/03/05/Road-rage-cyclists-2-apprehended
  16. no better reason to ride
  17. Vida always good Agree about Whippet, just around the corner of linden - great for breakfast too also quite like the mugg & bean at the centre where the virgin active is (barry hertzog) will go check Tazza doro and motherland out when I'm there next - thx V12man!
  18. Slicks will make the ride much easier. I wont worry about sludge, but it probably wont harm if there is some sealant in the tubes anyway. The biggest hassle for me is to get the tubeless off, and on again afterwards.
  19. Hopefully the 'action' will be in time to prevent these okes from riding on Sunday ... http://ewn.co.za/2014/03/04/Road-rage-cyclists-Committee-to-take-action
  20. Haven't built a bike. And as soon as the studies are done, will go find a decent bike park
  21. Great routes (for days 1 & 2 so far) and almost NO congestion on the singletrack - the stages in today's ride was a great idea!
  22. Berg & Bush Descent entry available for 1 person 11,12,13 October. Fun Fit technical able team mate who will not mind waiting for you Entry fee was 4000 pp, accommodation the night before R255. If you're interested, PM me how much of the entry fee you can afford to refund and we'll take it from there.
  23. Hi Cheesy ... thx Outspan (down Rivonia to Benmore) is the one I took today. It's mostly a quiet route and I like it - especially the singletrack way off the road How do you negotiate that right-turn? Just wait for another car that wants to turn there and go over with him? And the traffic circle? Just very slow to give cars from the left chance to jump in in front of me without taking me out? Or faster to get out of it quicker? I went down West Road South once, and came back on Outspan - might as well turn off at Ballyclare there - will go check that out on Tuesday and see where it takes me. I used to love that part of the Spruit below the Pick n Pay - but felt uncomfortable the last time I rode there and haven't been there in a long time. Not sure about joining that part of the spruit on my own? Will take a body-guard with me one Saturday and go check it out I'm on a silver Trance, and on days that I stop to get on the pavements, it's the 21 year old red Rigid Sedona - say hi next time! Many thanx!!
  24. Thx Thug I've tried the Sandton Medi-clinic one. I like it, but one stretch through a dip where there's no pavements and a narrow road. Apart from that, that's my best bet so far. I dont like the traffic circle but I guess I'll get used to it. My route to Parktown was mainly through the Spruit and backroads - I forgot how completely invisible cyclists are at traffic circles I've tried Sandton drive, and getting there from Grayston was easy and safe. I also liked the nice quiet road right next to Sandton drive. But I didn't like the cars cutting me off at every left turn possibility - it was a lot of stops, but it's much safer than any of the others I've tried. Anyone else commuting from Sandton to Randburg side?
  25. My questions is slightly off-topic; I've made another thread: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/130461-safe-commuting-routes-out-of-sandton/ - please post route suggestions there.
