  1. Oooh Samson looks like you're gonna get to 5000 before Close of Business on Friday!
  2. Zub, dude, you must update your rides, I'm coming for you!
  3. As far as I remember the person who passed away didnt attempt the jump. There's also a mention about it in this thread: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/179718-spruit-ride-new-piece-of-single-track/ Quoting from there: From Jozi Trail FB page. “Jozi Trails has received the incredibly sad news that a cyclist has passed away after a fall near Victory Park. We've been in contact with the family and the details, currently available, are as follows: A father & son were riding along the Braamfontein Spruit and while crossing the stormwater drain through the dip in the trail (parallel to Dale Brook Crescent) it's believed that at the low point of the crossing his wheel washed out and he suffered a serious fall. At this stage it is assumed that he suffered serious injuries from the fall and passed away as a result. It was confirmed that the rider had not attempted the gap jump. The family has asked that we respect their privacy at this time and we will not be releasing the riders name. Our most sincere condolences go out to the family and friends of the rider and we will keep the community updated with any new information.”
  4. The project is run by Jozi Trails. Follow them on their facebook page or check out their web page http://jozitrails.co.za/ Maybe you could post on their facebook page? They are still piloting and I'm sure they'd appreciate any ideas to make it more user friendly.
  5. Wow! Haven't recorded negative temperatures in the Spruit yet, although it's white with frost every morning. I feel it in my fingers and my toes! What do you do for cold fingers and toes in that temperatures?
  6. For a short moment in time we both were in the 3000s
  7. It's a mix of having had to be sensible about recovery between the weekend training rides required for JoBerg2C and Mr Cat-i joining the commuting challenge and now wanting to get up early every day chasing those ahead of him ... he should reach page 1 of the leaderboard before the end of June A few years ago (2016) 4744 kms was enough to get you to the top spot at the end of the year.
  8. Was chasing to get to my 3000 before you got to 4000. I did notice the last few days you were making it easier than it should have been. If nothing goes wrong, it will happen this afternoon or if I get away late today, then only on Friday morning.
  9. Can't wait for the sun to come back. Think I must plan a long(ish) commute for 21 June to celebrate the sun's return - only 2 weeks to go
  10. Still the 'flu keeping you off he bike. Feel better soon!
  11. Hey Imploder, holiday's over. I'm coming for your spot on the leaderboard. Not because I wanted to ... Mr Cat-i has been commuting with me for a while, always suggesting a shorter route home. 3 weeks ago he decided to join the commuting challenge. Didn't want to backdate his commutes, so only started counting 2 1/2 weeks ago. Made me ride some detours yesterday and had to get up at 5 this morning for a longer ride so that he could chase the 2 dudes ahead of him.
  12. Was that 1560 for 2 hours of riding and 1200 for 22 hours of non-riding? So 3760 for the day? (Just trying to understand the question)
  13. Yikes, glad you're ok (ish). I think sometimes they see but just don't register. The more people commute, the safer we may become because maybe people would start registering us because they see more of us. Maybe.
