  1. I'm using Fastbars in conjunction with GT Gel. Just to mix it up between gels and bars. Whether they're good or not I could not tell you, they do what they need to for me.
  2. Home before the sun came out
  3. Yeah, and then they advertise, “Now with 15% more” and it’s still not the weight of what it used to be.
  4. so have you weighed it to see if its the stated weight ?
  5. yep, actual weather vs app weather (across multiple apps) seemed to be opposite to each other. p'd me off. I need to do a longish ride to make the final decision on a saddle I've been testing. Could not do that as planned yesterday. With 2 weeks to go until I do a 100 miler I was hoping to have a saddle dialed in etc. before then.
  6. blue sky, dry sand. could not have been Sunday or Today.
  7. Same comment I left on twitter Sure the driver did not hit the cyclist. But if you've ever been buzzed by a motor vehicle doing more than twice your speed you'll know how frightening it is. Driver should have slowed down for the cyclists given the narrow road.
  8. Did you list them under wearables? what about lights GPS etc.
  9. Speaking of insurance, what do you do about the rest of your kit? helmet, shoes, sunglasses, gps etc. If bike jacked they’ll take a fair amount of stuff, just my saddle bag and items inside that I lost during ctct was 1k, and that’s probably the cheapest of all the items that go with the bike.
  10. F@#$@#%@ That could have been me. I'm normally at that same spot around that time. Anymore detail on the incident ? Were the guys hiding or just walking there ? Problem is its so dark there at that time of the morning.
  11. not yet
  12. I'm busy trying a chromo rail version now. Thanks. See above I'm not sure my butt likes them.
  13. I've borrowed a Scoop shallow to try out. Second ride so far, not sure I'm convinced. First ride I left the seatpost at the same height I had it with the Arione, but I realised the Fabric sits higher off the rails, so last night I dropped the height to compensate. I also noticed when setting it up that to get it level I had to drop the nose substantially vs the setting the Arione was on. I think the biggest problem is the Arione is a rather narrow saddle and more than 10 years of my saddle and ass mashing into each other they moulded into each others imperfections. The Scoop is wider (even though its apparently the right width for my ass) so the pressure is now on different spots to what I'm used to. Going to give the butt a rest tomorrow, do a short ride on saturday and a longer one on sunday to see how it feels.
  14. but are they bike hub plus members ?
  15. I will not live in fear. also testing out a saddle
  16. I'm also normally back while the family is still trying to roll out of bed, but during the week that is 6:30. Also have no interest in sitting in a bunch with random people all flexing their egos, but have considered this for 1) safety 2) longer rides i guess the first step is for me to visit BL and get onto their whatsapp group, thats one step closer
  17. I also prefer solo rides. bicycle line starts very close to where I am, but they start at 4:30, not sure I can bring myself to get up that early, it already feels like the middle of the night when leaving at 5:30
  18. my bike took me nowhere today. Last night I was fully committed to riding this morning, despite not having a great sleep I still got up with the alarm @ 5am, but the apprehension brought on by the recent muggings on my route got the better of me and I went back to bed. I cant let them win though, I will be back out there.
  19. on my second set. They can certainly take a beating too.
  20. I half thought about joining but decided it would not be ethical How are your fallen riders doing ?
  21. how are you enjoying those Pirelli Cinturato's ?
  22. heck yes, PM sent.
  23. Just came back from CL, they do a 30 day money back on saddles, if you're not comfy/happy you can bring it back. But I'm hoping to get a much better price than their 1.2k
  24. Thread resurrection After the wet CTCT I did not give the saddle/seatpost any attention other than a clean. I started to hear a creak whilst sitting and pedaling. After making sure it was not my joint I decided this weekend to take the saddle off, clean up everything and put some grease on the contact points. This is when I discovered a crack in my Fizik Arione. It probably happened a while back as I noticed a deformation along the one side months ago but did not investigate it. So now I'm looking for a replacement. Fabric Scoop seems like THE saddle to get. Now just to find one to demo and also at a good price. I missed out on one in the classifieds, it was sold this weekend. So, anyone know of a place in gauteng that has them at a good price. Cyclelab has them at R1199 and I'm sure they probably have demo units to test.
  25. no the first time there have been reports of them riding like this.
