  1. you win this thread. Much Jealous. I drove the XC40 P8 a few weeks back, as much as I love internal combustion engines, that electric motor setup has crazy acceleration.
  2. Sharing the same floor as a motor cycle retail division I get to watch and listen to motorcycle buyers daily. they are a rather unique breed and love their accessories.
  3. I got around to trying a different nutrition strategy today. Granted the ride was just one 2 hours, but I could at least compare to previous rides on the same route with different nutrition. Started with a small bowl of pronutro pre ride. Then I made some sugar water as per recipes I found on the net, 5 tablespoon sugar, 1/4 teaspoon salt in water. But we didn't have white sugar so I used brown. As it was chilly out I just used tap water and shook it up nicely, seemed to dissolve everything. I backed that up with a fastbar at the halfway mark. Initially the sugar water tasted rather sweet, but once my palate got used to it it tasted rather nice. But again it was a chilly day, would have to see what this is like in the baking heat of summer. I didn't feel drained coming to the end of the ride and also did not feel famished once I was done. Will be experimenting with this further.
  4. Rim tape in the wheel was an abomination. Was done by cycle lab after Octobers CTCT. folded in places, sticking to the tyre in other places and just down right a mess. inserted new rim tape, cleaned everything up, put a different valve in and pumped it up at the garage. will see what it’s like in the morning.
  5. Went in for a roll of rim tape, left with much more. I’ve been wanting 160mm rotor for the front since I bought the bike, but then you can’t really put new rotor and not new pads

  7. Same pricing as here. But it’s not just a lump of steel, comes with its own computer box to tell the car what’s what with the rig.
  8. It’s between the rim tape and the valve that is the problem. I’m leaning towards the valve, but have also bought new rim tape too. (Plus a bunch of other things I did not need but have wanted for a while)
  9. Nowhere Since my tyre change in October I'm used to having to topup the rear randomly every few days, so its habbit to feel the pressure as I take the bike out the garage in the morning. This morning instead of being slightly under inflated it was completely flat. Inspected for any obvious leaks, then inflated to my normal 80psi and heard air escaping. Closer inspection saw some sealant coming out from the bead, and then I felt air coming out a breather hole in the side of the rim. Air should not be getting there. Hopefully its just the rim tape and not a crack. So I packed the bike away and climbed back into bed
  10. great price
  11. Paraskevi = Friday Dekatria = 13 Its all Greek to me.
  12. exactly my point. Most components will give you a range (i.e. 5-6nm), so if you aim for the middle of that range and your wrench has a 10% error you are still going to be within the range specified. And I'm pretty certain that the range specified will also be in the "safe" zone leaving some room for error either side of it. Thats not to say you must ignore the range and/or use grossly rubbish tools though.
  13. but how much tolerance is built into the torque values prescribed by the parts manufacturers and how in-accurate are these torque wrenches ?
  14. great choice of vehicle. Plenty power from that T5 motor and all the safety you can think of. used to love surprising the boy races with their hothatches when I drove these.
  15. yeah I would imagine the spruit would be much cooler, when I pass open veld areas you feel the temps drop dramatically. B.T.W. my rides during the week start at 5:30am, so I'm pretty much riding during the coldest part of the morning.
  16. I'm not normally a fan of MTB looks, but there is something about these Cyphers that makes them so sexy.
  17. Winter temps have not yet hit the highveld.
  18. conversely if she put in the training to be on the same level as you she would most likely be in a better position health and wellbeing wise. its an egg vs chicken scenario
  19. I want to jump on my bike and ride at a whim, this kind of pre-thinking is ok for planned rides, but not all the time. As mentioned, I'd be seriously upset if one of the running costs I need to factor in to owning an e-bike would be regular battery replacements. Also one of the things that worries me about electronic shifting (DI2 etc.). i keep my bikes for many many years, will the battery last long enough ? Off Topic slightly I've got a Canon 50D sitting in my cupboard, I used to use it all the time without a worry about the batteries. With the battery grip and 2 batteries I could shoot all day on a single charge. Now the one battery is dead and the other is on its last breath, I'm reluctant to buy new batteries because I no longer use the camera all that often anymore.
  20. This thread has me researching lights as I'm finding my 1000lm Lezyne to not be adequate on these dark mornings when the speed heads north of 30km/h. Some roads where I'm blinded by traffic lights or oncoming cars I'm navigating by memory.
  21. Yoh. Dark from start to finish. But not as cold as I thought it would be.
  22. I'll admit to not wearing safety glasses for most things I should wear them for, but there are a few jobs I dont go without. The one is something most people would not think about, weed eating / edge trimming. Having been hit in the safety glasses with small stones a number of times, I dont go without. One of the other activities most SAFFAs dont think about wearing some eye protection is squash. I got properly knocked on the eye brow with a racket once, 6 stitches. I still finished the match and then drove home from Rivonia to Alberton. Since then always wear eye protection.
