  1. on the weight gain thing. Recently watched a video clip of a drag race between a '90s Superboss and a new Polo GTI. Despite the Polo having more turbo charged power and idiot proof DSG box the Superboss was right next to it the entire way. It boiled down to weight, around 400kgs difference between the 2.
  2. super glue with bicarb, Q-Bond does not need the bicarb. but if you go super glue route get decent quality super glue. If you can get hold of the stuff WURTH sells then get it, its WURTH it.
  3. my uneducated opinion That crack is from over tightening the stem. The result of the crack is that the stem now needs to be tightened tighter as, as you tighten it, is compresses the bars and therefore does not grip properly. This is probably what stuffed the bolts up. Stem can probably be fixed, but as that is the only place that the bars attache to the bike I'd change the bars.
  4. damn rain has stopped play. Its getting to the point where I might have to resort to using the IDT again.
  5. I'm busy getting quotes for gas line installation into kitchen. I can DIY, but wanted to make sure it gets a COC for reselling the property later.
  6. Done But that looked suspiciously like market research to open an indoor training facility
  7. I read it as Rockspider when I first glanced at the pic, had to re-read to get the correct name.
  8. exactly my thoughts. I ran some scenarios through my head last night and trying to get away is simply not an option, so I've made peace that I'll hand over my possessions, just hope they give me the chance to do so before getting brutal. I also need to go and get a pay as you go sim for a miniature phone I bought 2 years ago, the idea being that I'll tuck it inside the kit and once the coast is clear I can phone for a lift.
  9. I've taken my 50d, complete with extra battery grip and 70-200 f4 lens on. But that was just on a few cruises around Sondela. Had it strapped around my neck wth the camera hanging by my chest. I wouldnt want to do anything even remotely techincal with that setup.
  10. like I said to the wife last night. Hundreds of cyclists pass that point every day, I will be extra aware but for now I'm not going to stop riding.
  11. transport costs have gone crazy. They are blaming container shortages on the supply side
  12. The Russia Ukraine war is putting further strain on the automotive industry as Ukraine is the largest producer of wiring harnesses for the automotive industry
  13. Now that its officially mine I can boast. Got this from a fellow hubber, he was kind enough to let me try it out for a bit before making a decision. Its taken a bit of fine tuning but I'm finally comfy on it. Although have not done anything longer than an hour yet. Fabric Scoop Shallow
  14. Braving the dangers and the chill
  15. actually I need to do this
  16. mate its not just bikes. I sell cars, try explaining the huge price tags on cars these days.
  17. at least you commit them to writing. I have these things rolling around in my head in the middle of the night, think to myself I will remember them, then in the morning I know I'm supposed to remember something but dont know what.
  18. far to many people taking out insurance to get the new car and then canceling the moment they leave the dealership. Its scary actually. The way around that is that insurance houses should be mandated to inform the finance company when insurance is cancelled, finance house should then contact customer for new proof of insurance.
  19. Was alerted to this a few minutes ago. Strava puts me there at 6:25 this morning at least it’s only a few hundred meters to walk home from there but seems to be the same syndicate PLEASE NOTE: There was a bicycle hijacking this morning at 06h30 - corner North Rand and Elizabeth Road, Beyers Park. 4 armed b/m in a White Ford D/Cab bakkie. Please try and cycle in groups as these hijackings are on the increase.
  20. That graphic is basically what I'm looking for. My bike fit provided the table and marked the various components, but I like the graphic. But since no one has mentioned an app for this I think I'll set it as a project to develop it.
  21. I'm a visual person, a picture of a bike is better than a spreadsheet. But the bike itself in the pic doesnt matter. You can have a generic road bike that you name "my spez abc" and then have your bike fit measurements overlayed onto the correct areas. Saddle height, saddle angle, saddle offset, saddle to bar distance etc. Then you have generic pics for each of your bikes and the bike fit measurements for each of those. Change a saddle on one bike and you make a copy of that bike on the app and just change the saddle position for the new saddle. Later on when you're looking at what changed you have a history of that bike and you can see the changes you made along the way wrt bike fit. If such an app does not exist maybe I should look into making one.
  22. without going through the process of inputting all my measurements, does that give you a graphic representation of your fit (i.e. pic of bike with measurements) ? I've had a bike fit and follow up sessions done, what I'm looking for is something other than a bunch of metric in a table format representation of those measurements.
  23. yeah I'm not sure to many motorists know the effect driving to close to a cyclist has on the cyclist. But as with the seatbelt and littering campaigns from the 80s and 90s we are unlikely to see anything anytime soon
  24. Anyone using an app to store bike fit measurements ? I've got them in text format in table form, but though it would be cool to have a graphic where one can have the measurements on. Plus maybe a history of your changes.
