  1. or mix it up perhaps ? Some solid / alternative foods and the rest Race Pro ?
  2. would it be better to then rather put less scoops in the bottle and carry a ziplock bag with some extra in to make a fresh bottle halfway ?
  3. I remember the first time I has a Monster Energy drink. Shortly afterwards I was sitting at my desk with a customer infront of me and I started shaking like a druggie in withdrawal.
  4. +1 on the Lezyne. Have been caught in some monster down pours and its still working faultlessly.
  5. my local CPF have sent out a message that a Mozambique syndicate have been bust for the recent spate of bike jackings , another suspect apprehended this week. No news on any recovered bikes though.
  6. I used to find that the glue would go dry before I ran out.
  7. Quick recap *** Have been struggling with the rear wheel since I put new tyres on before lasts years CTCT. It varied from topping up air every couple of days to going flat over night. Had Cyclelab take a last minute stab at it before sending the bike to cape town in october, it didnt work so landed up riding CTCT with a tube in. Gave CL another opportunity to sort it out when I got back. But it continued as above just less. So I got used to checking the tyre pressure everytime I pulled the bike out the garage. Except friday last week i pulled the bike out and wheel was completely flat, pumped it up and air was coming out the drainage hole in the rim. Saturday I bought new rim tape and re-did the tape etc. It lost about 40psi over night, but sunday I pumped it up and hoped that my ride would settle the beading etc. and it would seal. Well so far so good. I've not had to topup air since Sunday. B.T.W. When I bought tape last time, and when CL put new tape in, it was the same silver/grey tape that was slightly to wide and needed trimming down. When I bought tape this time I asked for something different, they has a narrower blue tape (looks like the same stuff though) and this worked much better on the road rims as it did not need trimming.
  8. much the same here as passing a dawdling car whilst on your bike. They seem to get very offended and you normally immediately hear the revs pic up and the car shoot off into the distance. It's so dumb its hilarious.
  9. but like certain cars, certain bikes can bring out the dormant pig
  10. I think this will work for road events, but from what I'm reading here it wont work for MTB events as the "stereotyped" e-biker is going so slow over the technical stuff that it negates their speed advantage on the hills. Therefore they are finish slow anyway. I think qualifying events would be the answer. Prove that you have the skills to do x, y and z events under a certain time and you qualify for entry into [insert event name here]
  11. Moisture in the air from the drizzle last night meant cooler temps this morning and a lot more mist than normal.
  12. better to ask his wife about his length
  13. arent all the new Shimano stuff black ?
  14. e-bikes are evil. Hope your friend heals up soon. Just a thought though, why didnt she just take the battery out if it was becoming dangerous like that ?
  15. R200k is really not a lot of stock at todays prices.
  16. I have one screwed into the co2 adapter in my saddle bag. Bought these 2 as backup
  17. Clever, just remember to replace the battery when you refresh your sealant. Muc-Off's Clever New Product Allows You to Hide an Apple AirTag in Your Wheel
  18. yep, the places you want to be renting in for ideal foot traffic cost a fortune. And then so many of them have a list of minimum requirements that makes a 1 man show operation a non starter. My sister went down this road in the 90's, fortunately her business did not need retail space but rather just office space, so she landed up buying a house. I went down this road about 10 years back when I wanted to buy a franchise operation. the store was an already established store, so most of what was needed in terms of lease requirements was there already, I still had to make lots of changes to make things work. The seller changing his mind and the last minute probably saved me much heartache.
  19. I started reading that article a week or 2 back. It read like someone with an axe to grind with the subject, like it was personal. Think I got just over halfway before reverting to skim reading to find out what happened or if there was a point to it at all.
  20. Thanks Frosty. Reason I feel its the sugar is I get similar headaches if I eat certain chocolates (normally the cheap stuff). But I also used brown sugar instead of white, so that might have something to do with it, I'll try the same recipe with white sugar next time. On the salt, the recipe calls for 1/4 teaspoon. I feel that if I keep the sugar the same then to bring the sweetness down a bit I need to up the salt. I'll experiment a bit more before making a final call on using sugar water.
  21. and the one foot driving is also pretty cool (once you get used to it)
  22. All I'm reading here is that importer and distributors are making almost impossible for a LBS to exist and that soon we will all be visiting chain store bike shops only. this saddens me. Much like the disappearance of your local corner cafe, local hardware store etc. Another aspect affecting small bike shops in my area is operating times. Now as someone in the retail industry who absolutely detests working saturdays I understand both sides of the coin. But take saturday for example, I needed some spares for my bike, I worked until 1pm so could only realistically get to any bike shops after 1. I really wanted to support a non franchised store, but the store that was my first preference closes at 1pm, the second store closes at 2pm but I know they carry very limited stock so did want to take a chance by going there and then having to go somewhere else after, so I landed up at a franchise store purely due to convenience.
  23. @FirstV8 were you out Kempton Park way yesterday morning ? I thought I saw you.
  24. Follow up. I'm not sure if its related and further experiments are needed, but I developed a headache yesterday of the type that I can normally trace back to to much sugar (normally its chocolate - my vice).
  25. you should see what its like in the motor industry. Its like people think you're making 100% profit on each vehicle, when most of the time its less than 8% if sold at full list price. Had a customer 2 months back cancel a deal he put a deposit on as he thought he'd get 10% discount. He came back this month hat in hand, apologized saying he thought he'd get his 10% elsewhere but that I was right when I said to him nobody will give him that kind of discount on the car he wanted. what about a few small bike shops getting together to buy direct from the importers ? Would that not be a better idea ?
