  1. My body wont allow me to pee on the bike. Have tried, everything just goes "Nope, no ways, we're keeping that seal tightly closed"
  2. If I'm gunning it I find I dont even think about needing a pee. I'll have one before I start just to start out on an empty bladder though. But if I'm doing anything less than say 85% effort then I find my mind has time to think about it and I tend to start needing a pee. In these cases I will stop at a porta loo. But its much the same as when not cycling, if I'm sitting around doing nothing I'll need to pee more often than when I'm busy
  3. get yourself a maintenance battery charger for the car. Whilst C-Tec is considered best in the business, I've been using a Black & Decker on my car, a fair bit cheaper than the C-Tec and has kept the battery from dying. It was new when I stopped using the car frequently and almost died completely, thats when I bought the charger. Basically treat the car like an electric car, everytime I park it in the garage I plug it in.
  4. Shopping centres (in general) dont give a f... about bikes. How many have you seen with any bike parking facilities lately. A couple of years back they were building the new Leroy Merlin near me, they posted on facebook about how many parking bays they were making for cars, I replied asking them to please make some parking space for bicycles. Their reply, You are welcome to use any of the x amount of parking bays we have made available, where x was the amount of car bays they just bragged about.
  5. One very happy commuter. Many thanks to @Dexter-morgan
  6. Thanks 117, Dexter has sorted me out with a light.
  7. No need to always reply, thankfully this forum has like buttons, often that’s enough. it’s OK to not always be ok. We understand.
  8. Speaking of cable ties, some people have way to much faith in their strength. Stopped at one of the Shell Ultras near on of the dorpies on the way back from Cape Town. Next to us was a trailer loaded with bikes. About 20 bikes is what I counted. But these bikes appeared to only be strapped on with cable ties. Yes they were on the this side, but I've seen thick cable ties fail way to easily for me to trust them to hold bikes onto a trailer.
  9. I'm looking for a rechargeable front light for one of my wash bay gents. Whilst he primarily uses his bike for transport (and this is when he needs the lights the most) he is also a keen cyclist. He is willing to pay a few hundred, but doesnt earn all that much so if I can get him something for nothing it would help.
  10. I bought some "I love boobies" sleeves with the intention to wear them if it was cool but dry, landed up not wearing them.
  11. yes they do. I looked into the first guy because his time was faster than the rest of the group, he pretty much rode on his own the entire way. So no harm no foul. (except he did not declare he rode an ebike) Second guy though appears to have pulled another rider on a non e bike through to 3rd fastest in the group. Thumbs up for him for holding the wheel, the photos show him putting in big efforts to keep up.
  12. Exhibit A 3h04 - cant say for sure, but looks like a battery I see there. Exhibit B 3h09 A little more obvious looking I dont know my bikes that well, but both appear to have batteries to me.
  13. I'll look into this one thanks.
  14. My saddlebag fell off during CTCT. First time in more than 20 years of cycling. I'm looking to replace the bag and tools, but thought maybe its a good time to look at alternatives. I dont want a tool bottle as I use both cages for water bottles, dont like the idea of putting the tools in my pocket, dont want exposed tools either. But also dont really want to go bigger than the Elan. So any suggestions on the below would be great. Remember this is for road bike use and I'm running tubless. The setup I had Scion Elan Carbon look saddle bag 2 CO2 Bombs - Dont need to buy as I have CO2 adapter - low profile suggestions please Presta Adapter Tyre Levers Ryder Slug Plug kit Titan Tinker 8 Multi Tool
  15. yes but you've been doing the tour since you were 3
  16. ThingsI learnt from this year CTCT 1) I can now do a sub 4 solo, with ease. Previously I thought it was only possible if I wheel sucked. Clearly training does help. 2) People give up way to easily. Parked next to a gent from JHB before the start. We chatted for about an hour, he had done about 25 tours. Then he decides to not ride and leaves. He missed a lekker ride. 3) Some people wheel suck and will thank you when they pass, others will wheel suck and just carry on 4) When I'm strong I don't mind pulling the train along. Makes me feel good. 5) Cape Town spectator support is amazing, despite the rain there were still crowds in places cheering us on.
  17. When I was with Hyundai in 2014 we had a car from limpopo come in. The owner heard a noise from the engine bay when he stopped in o'burg, opened the bonnet to find a cat has wedged itself into the fender. Mechanics has to strip a lot of the car off to free the poor feline who, other than being a bit frightened was perfectly fine. hope you find your kitty soon
  18. The goal is Club21 before I'm 50, that's 3 years and 3 CTCT left. I'm riding stronger now than I was 20 years ago. 20 years ago I thought to do a sub 4 you HAD to suck some wheel, sundays race showed me I can now do a sub 4 solo with ease. Given the current increases in my fitness, I may just get to Club 21 and then do a sub 3 there after
  19. Did not notice many ebikes until just before suikerbossie where all of sudden they were in abundance. I think by then the guys were nursing the batteries home as I was having some fun with them most of the way up suikers
  20. Lost my carbon look Scion Elan saddle bag
  21. Yes mine too just told strava to correct and it’s back to over 1000 again.
  22. Yep that was me. don’t stress about the comment, was about to chirp something along the same lines.
  23. What an awesome ride. made the decision to drop back a few groups and ride with a mate. With the weather I was not keen to push it in bunches. I dropped him up Edinburg and let him catch me on the M3, from there I grabbed the front of the bunch and pulled what looked like about 30 people all the way through to just before Smits. Dropped my mate up Smits again and when he finally caught me we just cruised together from there. I stopped somewhere up Chappies for some pics, then found a lone porter potty so stopped again and caught him just before the tolls. After suikerbossie I got him to tuck in behind me and just cruised along to the finish. still managed some PB’s on some segments on Chappies and Suikerbossie. only down side to the entire day is that I lost my saddle bag somewhere, only discovered it once we were done. so glad we decided to ride.
