  1. This just sounds like excuses to me. The above is not unique to cycling equipment suppliers, yet suppliers in other industries have found ways to make it work. To me it sounds like collusion and protection of existing customers.
  2. you should try selling cars for a living. You'd think I'd have a thick skin by now, but damn. The equivalent to "Is it Available" in car sales is an enquiry through our online presence (website, FB, IG etc.) and then the people dont answer any of the contact methods they supplied. The difference being these "leads" are monitored and if you dont make contact with the "lead" questions are asked. And if you cant get hold of the lead you did not try hard enough.
  3. not on the hub, but FB marketplace, "do you deliver" . What the actual F ? But it does seem that most people dont bother reading ads anywhere, they see the pic and the price and just respond. Also had a lady last night, "is it available and can you courier to cape town", disappeared very quickly when I said I'm happy to courier if she pays the courier fees.
  4. this has me wondering how I can apply the graph to a greek coffee brew.
  5. I've heard of insurance companies asking for the spare key when a car gets stolen, dont know if they do this for bikes too. So this is probably not the best idea. Does your bike have keyless start ? If so then you need to locate where that sensor for the key is on the bike, in cars if you hold the key right by the sensor it will start (provided that battery in the key is not completely stuffed.)
  6. surely that requires EMT to be able to plug the thing in first, I would think a simple ICETag would do a better job as the info is immediately available, or am I missing something here ?
  7. about to hit 7 000km on the current set. When the bike sits over night sealant seeps out of the cut marks made from all the glass in the roads, but as yet they are still holding air like they should, I do anticipate getting sprayed with sealant whilst out on a ride one of these days. They really have been a remarkable tyre.
  8. Whilst I’ve got spare cash and there is stock available I grabbed these from takealot. they’ll be kept in storage until the ones on the bike finally start leaking air and won’t seal.
  9. Cool will look for you. hopefully they sort out that burst pipe, been running like that for more than a week.
  10. I normally don’t do afternoon rides, but took advantage of the break in the weather yesterday and knocked out a short one. then went and caught the sunrise this morning.
  11. Did my usual route past your ex employer this morning and realized how much fitness and strength I’ve lost. need to ramp up the training.
  12. the speckles just look like overspray to me
  13. As punishment for not riding I did HIIT on the IDT last night
  14. If I believed the app then I’d be out there riding. I look outside, around the neighborhood are some very tall palm trees, they are a good indication on the level of wind. the reality is it’s an easy excuse, like you say, once you’re out there you may as well just ride.
  15. actually the plan IS to move down there
  16. very p'd off with myself. My bike has taken me nowhere this week. Monday - rest day Tuesday had to be at the office at a sparows fart Wednesday - check the weather, to windy Today - check the weather, to windy. I should have just ridden, its only a head wind in one direction. Rest of the week looks like crappy cold weather, so I think I'll have to climb on the IDT again for a few days.
  17. That little bit extra per month would have saved you now. have claimed on out and about twice with OUTsurance on laptops. The last one was a huge one and I wasn’t expecting the claim to be approved without paying a % from my side, but it went through no issues. all my bikes are specified too.
  18. Sucks get them to issue you with an uneconomical to repair letter, then let insurance replace it.
  19. when I started legally driving in the 90's you would not even put your front wheels over the white line at a traffic light or stop sign for fear of being fined per wheel over the line,
  20. HOLY WALL OF TEXT BATMAN ! Can we club together and buy this guy a new enter key please.
  21. oh I'm not perfect, but definitely make the effort. Normally by the time I've calmed down enough from the close call to actually issue a gesture the car is far enough away that its pointless.
  22. commuting taught to me ride defensively. Not aggressively mind you, but defend my piece of tar and make sure I get noticed. Small things like on a left hand bend, move further away from the pavement so that you can be seen. Like your example above, move to the middle of the road to make sure you dont get taken out by the following cars. But courteous for the most part, thank cars for waiting for you at intersections even though the law says they MUST wait. I've also learnt to keep the hand gestures and swearing to myself as its just not worth it.
  23. Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes This should be a lot more literal.
  24. To add onto this, you should see the looks you get as a white man if you choose to walk somewhere in Gauteng. (I mention race as its not a common site in GP to see a white person walking to the shops etc.)
  25. Its not just this thread though, it gets mentioned often enough in other threads to. But, on your points above, no different to GP (if we look past the freeway argument)
