  1. have never thought of using it, but now that you mention it, the one I have with multiple sizes would probably work perfectly. I must try it.
  2. mine is permanently wired, so using the quick release. Battery is in the boot so I've routed the plug to come out on the side of the boot floor. I have the charger hanging on the wall of the garage where the boot stops. So its easy, pull car in, open boot, plug in the charger, close boot and lock the car.
  3. get yourself a battery maintenance charger. CTEK is the most popular but they are expensive, you get other makes too. I've got this on my private vehicle. Having a company car means the private car does around 2000km a year, so I simply plug it in when I park it, when I want to use it I know the battery at least is charged.
  4. but the people that do that to their bakkie love the whirr whirr whirrr the tyres make on tar. (at least it gives us road cyclist fair warning of the approaching double cab from behind)
  5. is that an evil eye hanging from the saddle ?
  6. how are the roads closer to hazeyview in terms of safety ? went out there in 2019 and decided not to take the bike as I'd have to ride through hazeyview to get anywhere and I was not sure the roads were safe enough.
  7. if he wants a fancy bike he can have it, but then mustn't complain about the price.
  8. sounds like I touched a nerve. Never said it was everyone
  9. not when the rubber is so thin its painted onto the rim, there is no squish to take up the shock of hitting a pothole, then you have an extremely expensive OEM only rim that needs replacing
  10. The bold bit gets me. I know you meant it in jest, but I get it all the time. Then the person wants the biggest rims with the lowest profile tyre because that is what looks good, straight away they have negated any advantage of being in an SUV on our bad roads.
  11. the same can be said for used cars, not many countries where used cars command premium pricing like in SA.
  12. he's not being a tool, he is given a comparison There are more affordable options that the spaz, you dont need the spaz to start in the sport
  13. Bit chilly and breezy out there today That wind speed seems totally wrong though
  14. Wide angle lens. That table belongs in the woodworking section. During lockdown I needed a table for my laptop whilst riding, but I needed it to double as an extra table under the lapa. We had these steel table legs and frame lying around, so I took a piece of MDF and put probably about 6 coats of varnish on it until it stopped soaking it up and gave a glossy finish.
  15. An hour of easy spinning in the “pain cave” been a week since I last rode, feels like forever.
  16. https://veloviewer.com/segment/3866479 just replace the word strava in your link with veloviewer
  17. I recall that vid doing its rounds probably last year this time
  18. Posting on behalf of of our president. He just bought 2 Spez's https://www.news24.com/ride24/news/cyril-went-bicycle-shopping-in-cape-town-20210603
  19. I used to do hill repeats up those hills when I still lived in Alberton. If you head left at the top of that hill it will take you down to a dead end. I recall doing seated climbs up there with the front wheel lifting on every power stroke. https://www.strava.com/segments/6220689 Strava says it gets over 20% nearer the top
  20. this is SA. The first speeding car will take out the poles (at the speed they go they will take them clean out the ground), thereafter every other car will speed through without needing to slow down. It will be almost impossible to get council to put new poles in again after that.
  21. your posts are an inspiration. One day I will do something similar.
  22. when the FIA started banning things left right and centre in F1 it got boring really quickly, hope cycling does not go the same route
  23. as the others have said, pay someone else to do it, I've dont 2 houses myself and paid someone to do the 3rd. Try not to get the fibreglass one, even if someone else does it, everytime you go into the roof for anything it itches like crazy, 3rd house I did we used Isotherm which is recycled plastic bottles. much better.
  24. again, pricing confirms we are being ripped new ones by the industry
  25. how the MOER does that thing cost 200 bucks ???????
