  1. this thread is now about creative ways to get out of getting married
  2. pretty simple really. Google free QR code generator. It will give you a few options of what kind of info you want. Pic one that will enable you to have your ICE info pop up when the code is scanned. Anyone with a smart phone can then point their camera at the code, it will pop up a link on their phone that will take them to the info you specified.
  3. its all about covering as many bases as possible. I have live tracking activated and my wife knows more or less how long I should be away, if I'm taking to long she checks to see where I am and if I'm moving.
  4. My experience with QR codes in my line of business, most people have no clue what to do with them. I generated QR codes for all our cars that take you to brochures and specs, nobody knew how to work them. Even with instructions next to them. I'm certain a paramedic will be better educated, but I'm not taking that chance.
  5. yoh! did not know they sold those.
  6. When I think of iceid tags I always think back to my dads accident. 71 years old, knocked off his bike on a busy main road. Was not concussed but certainly daised and confused (and in pain). Was it not for someone he knows driving past and recognising him and recognising he was in distress who knows what would have happened. Hence mine goes on for every ride, and if I do happen to forget the wrist tag (hard to do as it always sits in my helmet when not on my arm), then my helmet has a tag on
  7. They definitely cost more than they should, but they at least dont claim to have super powers ala powerbalance
  8. yeah me too. Its harder to motivate myself to getup and do a before work ride in the dark and the cold than it is to motivate commuting to work under teh same conditions. Technically I could still commute, but being 2km from home it doesnt make sense to do a long detour to the office and then try and make do with no shower etc. here when I could rather do a nice long ride before work, have a hot shower at home and then come through to work.
  9. and what does it mean ?
  10. to be fair I have never paid full price. The Helmet strap one I got a big discount when they were running some promotion (might have even been through bikehub, to far back to remember), the silicon wrist one I got free through Discovery when doing the 947. But as has been stated, having that info available to some good Samaritan when I'm lying in a ditch half dead is worth it to me. Is it a bit of a rip off, well isnt eveything related to sport these days a rip off ?
  11. For your phone make the ice info the background to your Lock Screen.
  12. iceid.co.za
  13. I wear 2, one around my wrist and one on the helmet strap
  14. I've stopped trusting windy, it has lied about the wind and rain far to many times over the last 6-12 months. And yes, once out in the open through the fields there is no shelter other than the other riders around you. I have plenty training miles in those conditions, riding solo, so hope to be able to cope.
  15. I'm expecting it to be fairly breezy on sunday, so I'll be seeking shelter
  16. I'm back in DL for some reason. Can only think that it is because of the smaller batches. Looking forward to this. Looking at the route and profile I'm expecting a fast race.
  17. why are there so many Ben's in teh top 10 ?
  18. Saw that too. Seems a bit strange with bike and car still there. Wonder if it wasnt some medical issue and she is lying in hospital somehwere.
  19. yeah no Ctrl-Click issue for me both on windows 10 with Chrome and MacOS with Safari.
  20. I've been using probikegarage. Gives hours and also gives the ability to set service intervals on each component.
  21. I'm sorry but surely chucking cold water on hot rotors (discs in english) are a sure way to make them warp?
  22. Shimano recommends 5 or 6 repeated hard braking from around 15km/h to just before stopping, but never stopping, then up the speed to 20km/h and repeat. Do one brake at a time. It worked for my rear brake, but I suspect the front brake got a little contaminated as its not biting as well as the rear.
  23. well let me tag @ouzo and see what it does on my devices
  24. as long as the placebo ingredient is still active its should be good
  25. that Marvel kit has so many adapters that I'd be surprised if it doesnt fit a brake system
