  1. interesting, but i dont see how that senses the wheels locking
  2. damn, then I'd better chuck it
  3. Thanks folks. As I suspected.
  4. I use 32Gi gels. I bought in bulk probably late 2019 early 2020. I see now that they expire this month. what are the dangers of using expired gels ? (b.t.w. I saw the pack of serviettes the wife bought also have an expiry date ????)
  5. sorry to go off topic to correct you. ABS does not give you more brake bite or better stopping power, ABS is as the name suggests, Antilock Braking System, it is there to prevent the brakes locking up thereby giving you the ability to steer around the object you are on a trajectory to hit. Again, sorry for singling this out but it is a HUGE misconception and makes people think they can stop for anything at any speed.
  6. I actually want to do that one year. maybe not so much the physios, but atleast the water points. Take my time and just tour the entire route.
  7. if there is nothing left in the tank by the time you hit camps bay just turning the pedals is tough. I remember one year, going along seapoint, in the drops trying to edge out the last bits from my body when 2 ladies on MTB come sailing past, happily chatting away with not an ounce of effort being shown.
  8. search never worked properly on thehub, I can only hope that after the updates have done their thing that it works this time around. B.T.W. starting to like the new update. Somethings will take getting used to, but its like the forum has been brought into 2021.
  9. Us riders starting further back doing 4hours plus dont get to ride in bunches for very long. Plus usually by that point there is nothing left in the tank. (having said that, last year I was going really well but failed to fuel and bonked before chappies, this year I WAY WAY fitter and stronger so as long as I fuel I should have a great ride all the way to the end)
  10. That final stretch after Lundudno is a mind trick. It’s basically flat, but it never seems to end and then throw in a little punch hill here and there and the tired body just refuses to work.
  11. does that mean I have to do actual work from 4pm ??
  12. Chilled ride, both in tempo and temperature, with a few uphill sprints thrown in to keep it interesting.
  13. yeah, where did that rain come from ? And now its gone again. not a cloud in site this side.
  14. I normally only do this on a sunday morning. Does not feel dodge at all. I like this road, but car (and trucks) come past at high speed, had to many close calls with those big blue side tipper trucks. This is a nice road, ride it to just past Rietvlei Nature reserve, then turn left and head down Nelmapius over the R21, stop at WSK by Plantland, have a coffee and then head down to the road that takes you past Big Red Barn
  15. are you talking about the stretch that goes behind the engen and past Motorvia ? Its narrow, and now has some roadworks, but I try and hit it very early in the morning when there is less traffic. coming back seems to be slightly less of an issue, the cars seem to travel at slower speeds. But over all the years I've been doing it I have not had any close calls
  16. Now that I have a few more minutes. My normal Sunday routes from Boksburg. Atlas - Pomona - High rd, Pretoria rd. For a 55km ride I turn around at the Olifantsfontein intersection. For longer I'll go left then right and head past The Big Red Barn into Irene. The other option, but this I will only do with more people around is to turn off pretoria rd and head towards Bapsfontein to Delmas rd. Delmas rd and back will be 80km. Left onto delmas rd and left again on Nelmapius and then back past Big Red Barn will give me 110km. For hills I head into Bedfordview using Yaldwin, Jet Park, then I hit up Founders, Linkfield Drive, Kallanbach or Silvia Pass and back again. Can string together a good 60km route. For a short route I'll do Jones rd, Pretoria rd, Pomona, Atlas. This will give me 27km, I do this in the mornings before work. Every now and then doing it in the opposite direction.
  17. Strava has now added local legends for SA. Take a look at the heat maps and turn on segments. Plenty routes in the area. I ride most of them solo without to much of an issue.
  18. Along the same lines. Many years back I wanted to purchase a business. Made the offer, offer was accepted, contract drawn up and signed, put steps in place to obtain finance, whilst that was underway I spent all my time at the business getting to better know its staff, customers and workings. 1 month later (finance was taking a little long) the seller gets cold feet and cancels the sale.
  19. those clouds last night were epic. My wife remarked that it looks like they were all racing towards the setting sun
  20. when I changed from license in the ID book to license card I simply ticked the EB field at the time.
  21. that is worrying
  22. you dont even know her, how can you call her a hoe?
  23. As far as I am aware no Automobiles use mineral oil, had we been talking about Dot3 fluid I would very much agree with you.
  24. I absolutely HATE those wall panel heaters. The only way they work as advertised is if you leave them on the entire day and never ever let a drop of cold air into that room. Biggest scam under ever.
