  1. pretty quick reply from them. They had issues with the buffs and will be sending them out today only,
  2. So I got my socks, but not the neck thingies I ordered. Have mailed them now to find out why
  3. well it should, it extends a bit below the chin, and being made of fabric means it should catch most of the droplets before they exit.
  4. yep. Has a sort of "spine" that runs from vertically from the nose to the chin, but from the chin to the jaw there is nothing keeping the material flush against your face, so it kind of hangs open. The top has a wire over the nose and cheek bones so it sits flush there. Looks a bit strange from the side, but makes breathing with specs on that little bit more comfortable.
  5. I had the cable off the RD and realised last night when I hooked everything back up that during my testing I was pushing the RD over to far. With the cable hooked up there is no way to get the RD that close to the spokes using the shifter. But better safe that sorry.
  6. full range of gears available, completely free movement of everything.
  7. So it’s in and working. Landed up putting the dome part of the bolt on the spoke side, still had to shave off a few mm though. Nut on the outside. I put it all together, re-indexed and made sure that even if I was pulling the shifter lever it did not hit the spokes. Then took it all apart, put some thread lock and put it all together again. Called it a night after that. Tomorrow evening I’ll do a final check to see if the thread lock took and then it’s good to go. But I saw CWC has a 105 cage listed on their site, it’s not the right model, but I’ve mailed them to see if they can get the right one. I’d rather have an unbodged RD. But this will work for now.
  8. I just wanted to say I love having Mr Wakefield's inside knowledge here. Please dont stop posting sir.
  9. Dual Sim, has bluetooth too if you want. I bought it as an emergency phone to tuck away on my body somewhere when I commute. Should I get mugged they will more than likely want the smart phone, this way I atleast have a way to contact help. Onedayonly had them for around R250, I ordered 2, 1 will serve as an emergency phone in the house.
  10. medium length, roughly 80mm (8cm) between bolts
  11. this is exactly the solution I'm trying to achieve, chainring bolts though are to thick and to short. But same concept.
  12. wont work, the bolt passes through the pulley wheel, so that would mean drilling out the bushing of the pulley wheel to accommodate the thicker bolt., I'm not keen to do that with something that spins so fast.
  13. East Rand, Bedfordview
  14. Cellphone upgrade time. No more Garmin connect issues here.
  15. this is a road bike with an 11 spd cassette, I think the tolerances are pretty small. (and its the upper jockey wheel so its really close to the spokes on the biggest cog)
  16. to be honest it didnt even cross my mind, was more shocked at how quickly they determined they could not help.
  17. Still not enough clearance with the bolt I am using. But, the plate has a slight recess in it, I'm going to try and machine the diameter of the bolt head slightly smaller to fit in the recess, and maybe trim the dome slightly so its not so pronounced. This is similar to what I'm using on the outer side with the way I've trimmed the nut there is sufficient clearance to the stopped pin.
  18. it looks like you were right. Did a tour of the nut & bolt places, no luck. i dont think Reliable Bolt wanted to help, as soon as I showed them the pic of what I want they said they only have m6, then they sent me to Gelmar of all places.
  19. I've been told to try both Reliable Bolt and Robot Hardware, both are close enough to the office.
  20. new bolt and nut didnt work, simply not enough clearance between the big cog and the spokes. I shaved it down as much as I was comfortable with, anything more and I'm not confident there is enough left of the nut to do the job. I'm going to go look for a sleeved nut today. That way I can enlarge the hole on the cage and the sleeved nut can slip in there out of the way.
  21. echos my thoughts (even the part about the gelato) My wife long ago saw the wrong side of this a few times whilst we were out shopping, resulting in us hardly shopping together anymore.
  22. The Volvo branded ones do generally come in cheaper than buying from Thule. Not sure how though as its the same product. The same thing with a Land Rover badge on works out to more than buying from Thule.
  23. I paid around R1500 this time last year with Richard. Was well worth it.
  24. I can see why now. At 20 pound for the part (as per SJS) by the time it lands here its half the price of a complete new RD, make more sense to get the new RD then.
  25. Apparently on a 105 the inside plate cant be changed. I'm guessing it can, but local importers dont sell them.
