  1. Also, maybe get an opinion from a non quack as well.
  2. Has nothing top do with size. See LOUDMAC's post above.
  3. I don't think icycling has updated his store in the last 5 years, but the owner is a hubber and often does some awesome deals on complete groupsets. He is definitely one of the good guys.
  4. Shimano makes a 26/36/48 combo for SLX cranks. You can get them from CRC. Road chainrings wont fit on an MTB crankset. A road crankset may or may not fit on an MTB, depending on the width of the BB as well as the clearance of your chainstay.
  5. This being the case then I appologise unreservedly for my comments and I sincerely wish that Swift becomes a huge South African success story. I'm going to go find a big rock to hide behind.
  6. Its a viable model, and the reason I know about x-pace is because I have looked at it myself. The frames direct from Taiwan are dirt cheap and there is decent profit to be made. Just pisses me off when people use marketing BS to try and sell me stuff. Why not just be open about it and try and blow us away with superior service and prices.
  7. So, either Swift owns X-pace, or they are using their superior carbon knowledge to create exact clones of the X-pace frame line up. I don't know, i'm not a genius but i'm not stupid either. http://www.xpa-cycling.com/products.php?cls2=6&key=2
  8. Sorry, but these guys are buying off the shelf frames from x-space in Taiwan. I'm not doubting the quality of the frames because even De Rosa are using the non ISP version of the 838. Go have a look for yourself, even the model designations are the same. http://www.xpa-cycling.com/products.php?cls2=6&key=2
  9. So being dishonest is ok then? So you go tell everyone what an awesome innovator you are and how much experience you have in carbon and then go pick a frame off the shelf from your Taiwanese supplier.
  10. These are nice looking frames, although the company is selling rebranded Taiwanese frames and coming across as if they are the technical innovators : "We have worked hard to engineer the best Nano Technology resins and our patented Glide Tech Molding process allows us to deliver to you , an unrivalled riding experience . Innovation born truly on the ride"
  11. Alonso is my man. Those Brabham BMW turbo's in the 80's were 4 cyl 1.5's and pushed out over 1000 hp in qualifying trim.
  12. There is a hub rule that admin used to enforce that says we aren't allowed to copy and paste articles from other sites. From the hub term and conditions: You agree, through your use of the Discussion Forums, not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or The Hub SA.co.za.
  13. Once a cheat.....
  14. I think those bars are really cool. Was pretty cheesed off when you beat me to them. Really nice bike by the way.
  15. These are really nice. Saw one in a shop window in Sydney last year and the paint finish is fantastic. I'd go for the more understated black one myself.
  16. Its kind of like a glue liquid that you apply to threads to make sure things don't unscrew themselves. Not a permanent bond though because you can still use a bit of force to unscrew your bolt or whatever.
  17. I see even the Italian frame builders are going to English thread BB's, although this may be due to most of the frames being built in Taiwan nowadays. I say stock up on some Italian thread BB's while you still can.
  18. From the above picture it looks like the dent was put there for clearance issues.
  19. Ag old man, you should do more research before you make a fool of yourself. From the MTBR forums:
  20. This classic cycling movie is showing right now on SABC3. See you guys later.
  21. I have a feeling that its just too late to change things. We're on this slippery slope and theres no if's or maybe's about things getting better. We either have to learn to live with things the way they are or get out. That taxi driver is a prime example, but I also see on a daily basis the biggest idiots known to mankind on our roads. They come in all shapes and sizes and in various colours the rainbow. If I continue to let them upset me I'm going to be pretty pissed off for the rest of my life, because theres just seems to be more and more of them. So what is the answer: Shoot them? Thats alot of people to kill without drawing too much attention to yourself. Educate them? Ja right! I know, lets go on a protest ride? 30 years later the Argus is the biggest protest ride on the planet. Its still not working. Ignore them? Well, thats what i'm trying to do, I just hope they dont end up killing me while i'm doing so. At least i'm not eternally upset and angry. Insert your own solution here:
  22. Well, since Shimano now owns Pearl Izumi the local Shimano agents are by default the Pearl Izumi importer.
  23. A helmet is not going to help you in every situation. Having said that it doesn't actually hurt wearing it, so it definitely will improve your chances of survival in many scenarios. Thats why I wear one. I couldn't really care if others dont wear their's, thats their issue, not mine. Unlike the car seatbelt / air bag debate where there are instances where these safety devices may hurt or kill you, there is absolutely nothing to lose wearing a helmet(other than helmet hair).
  24. If I had the spare cash i'd buy it. Thats for sure.
  25. Fantastic job Dsan. If you're going for a Pista look then a set of Cinelli Criteriums would look really cool.
