We were in KNP last weekend and my friend shoots a Nikon D750 with a 20 year old Nikkor 500 f4. Weights a ton and can't handheld at all at his age. But his quality in low light compared to mine.... My ISO was creeping into the unacceptable range!!!

Good choice!! R7 allows for easier control when you shoot more "manual". but to be honest I don't think you need it. BBF is quite nice and I think you can set the R10 up for that. 100-400 a real lekker lens at a good price point I also don't call myself a bird photographer, but my best sightings in KNP this year (6 weekends) was of birds!!! L-lenses - just a dream for me!!

I'm curious, what are you buying? I've done the same a year ago and pulled the trigger for a R7 and some lenses in May/June.

If you stick to half coke/half water and bananas you basically pay 99% less....

Those kriega climbs!! elevation from groenfontein to the top of the pass is 1700m. eina!!! Pity the OP cannot add a detour to Red Stone hills. Or perhaps that is a good place to stay at day 4?

It would be nice to drive this by car as a family outing? I assume you can drive all the way to the dam - seems there is a lodge/cottages at the dam. @100Tours where is the gate you are referring to?

We stay on the Calitzdorp - Kruisrivier road every December, those drags. Gets lekker steep after Groenfontein!!! Great endurance training. My favourite is the OP's day 6, Calitz to PA via the Pass - magical stuff. I'm there in 6 weeks time, cannot wait!!

Which TdF did he achieve 71st? This year he did not ride and last year he DNF 2021 he was 133rd Source = PCS

A true GT rider for me is one with multiple wins in a quality field. As D Dassie said, time will tell.

Looking at the current and future GT talent, it might be a bridge too far for him to be classified a true GT rider. Classics and 1-week tours might be more suited to his talents.

I want to enter this year, but the Momentum Medical Scheme Cape Pioneer Trek, presented by Biogen was too hard to swallow. Would have DNF'ed. The CPT was so much easier in '12 and '14.
