  1. I agree. I had a 32x46 as well. On the 40 tooth it was ok, but as soon as you jump to 46 tooth, you spin and go nowhere! Can't remember where I read it wrt ratios. But the 34x50 will still give the same effect or you will still spin as much like the 32x46. I think going 36 in front would be perfect to fully utilise the range?

  3. I don't think you can be subtle with anything XX1 related ????
  4. Completely understand the bling factor! seems like the XX1 chain is very strong based on previous comments
  5. That is a lot of mileage -cK-! what bike / group set you riding?
  6. What group set you have on your road bike? interesting. What percentage wear is it recommended to change the chain? I do not have a chain checker tool / know how it works.
  7. Since the cost of these cassettes and chains are expensive... Has anyone replaced their cassette's / chain? If you have / haven't changed same, what mileage have you covered thus far?
  8. Where is the giant for sale at R55k?
  9. I'm also looking at a bike in the same price range. Narrowed it down to Scott Spark RC900 & Giant Anthem Pro 1. Leaning towards Giant Anthem Pro 1 as it seems the lightest of the lot with carbon wheels. I think the bike tips just under 11kg with pedals and tubeless based on reviews. Reason for maybe going Spark RC900 is due to the lockout system and having the 3 options. Bottle cages, I find one bottle is sufficient to get you between water points. Never had to use a second bottle. Unless you going to do the ultra marathons, which is every now and then, you can put a bottle cage on your seatpost.
  10. This mornings commute to work Follow me on: Strava: https://www.strava.com/athletes/18791823 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/shaafee_cycling_cpt/
  11. Purchase a roller for your legs. I use this every time i get the chance. Legs feel fresh for the next ride believe it nor not! Maybe try rolling your legs at the gym before purchasing if you unsure. This will work far quicker than recover drinks, which should only be used within 30min of a strenuous workout.
  12. I think a lot of people will be doing the Fedhealth MTB Challenge on this day
  13. It can't be worse than Trail Seeker Grabouw
  14. Take the Scalpel for a test ride, you will immediately forget you tested the Giant
  15. This usually occurs when there is an update for your device. I have previously resolved the problem by trying to re-install a previous version before the update with the help of google. I know there is a website with all the updates for all devices.
  16. ADIDAS ZONYK AERO - AD06 1600 (L) https://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/adidas-zonyk-aero-ad06-1600-l
  17. I wish I had taken pictures before and after....
  18. I took my American Classic wheels Bridge Cycles, which they straightened. Then I took my crest wheels to Olympic Cycles, which they also managed to straighten my wheels. Maybe it is on a case by case basis, who knows. It is worth a try. Take nothing away from LBS when they tell you it can't be fixed. However, even if your LBS refuses to do it. There is no harm in trying to straighten it yourself and checking the tension on your spokes as other hubbers have done. It does not mean it is impossible to straighten. Just remember, if you straighten your wheels without a LBS selling you new rims, it will save you the bucks. In the case of my crest wheels being straightened. I saved R3200 for a new set of rims. I would say exhaust all options you may have. If you are going to feel unsafe, you do have the option of purchasing new rims or building up another set
  19. I have the same issue when using the light on my road bike. However, luckily I have the CWC Marvel light, where you can switch the light from vertical to horizontal, clearing space for the light battery There is over enough space on a MTB seat post though to keep the light vertical.
  20. If I can recall, I think the battery itself is indented with rubber pieces. I could only assume by that curve it is meant for the seat post and not the top tube. Unfortunately my light was stolen with my bike
  21. I had a set, they are very very good value for money. Strong rim with good rolling hubs! I would recommend a set if the Crest / Arch wheel is out of your budget
  22. The rim is not toasted. This happened to both my previous American Classics AM28, as well as both my Crest Wheels about 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately, this happens when you have no option but to ride through rock gardens at a pace with low pressure tubeless tyres. The wheels can be straightened. Take it into your LBS. Just ensure the tension on the spokes are good afterwards.
