  1. Hey Backlash, Thats not a bad basic system, but the Karvonen system as someone mentioned earlier is more accurate. In addition they have as of late found that the 220 base, from which to theoretically calculate your supposed maximum is actually incorrect. I stand under correction they found the basis to actually be around 214-215 - age for a basis of maximum. D
  2. Chris King Tool 36-28-38 Salma 36-28-36 Salma wins
  3. Hey Willehond I used Chainreaction cycles, where you can build your own set of wheels according to what you like. I landed a set of Wheels with Hope Hubs & Mavic rims for +-R3 500(given thats about a year ago now) and havent looked back. Other than that if you are going to build your own wheels localy , i have a set as above of almost brand new DT 240s hubs lying in my garage. That i would let go for a reasonable offer. Rgds D

May my Pinarello Paris grow up to look like that... D
  5. It's funny how things work out, i had a bit of a head cold so was'nt even going to ride. Not having riden this one before decided i would just take my Ellesworth Moment 6 inch travel bike that weighs a ton and go out and play. We'll that was probably the best descision i made all year, the bike just came into it's own on this course. Since i started right at the back to see how i felt after the first 10k's i spent alot of time off the single track in the rough passing riders on the gnarly downhills. In the end things turned out great and i see i finished 11th in the Vets. Must say during the ride my heart was going out to all the folk on hard tails. But for once i felt if you had good technical skills it made up for not being a good climber. So it was a great equalizer this race.
  6. Hey Folks Anyone ride the Magalies MTB on the weekend, Absolutely loved the mixture of gnarly downhills, and mostly rideable climbs. Will be back next year. D
  7. Once you get used to the anthem you will love it. Have had mine for over a year now, and upgraded as time passed, now have an absolute awesome set up. But i would'nt recomend the XTR upgrade. I upgraded my brakes to the 2008 XTR set up. And a little dissapointed. They're not bad, but just not up to my abusive needs. Enjoy. D
  8. Dont get to happy " fish sticks" the Bulls are coming for you next weekend. D
  9. This is terrible news, Kemp is a bit of a legend in the Pretoria region. With years of great success in his cycling. Hope he makes a full and healthy recovery. D
  10. Just tried a set of Vredstein Killer Bee's this weekend, great for road riding. Biggest load of crap for MTB'ing. Destroyed them in 20k's. Slashed side walls and no real grip worth mentioning in hard technical riding. Guess i'll stick to the Schalbe's, dying to try some Kenda's but no one i saw Friday had the Nevegal 2.3.
  11. A tyre you also need to look at if you want overall good grip, and very low rolling resistance is The Racig Ralph, Schwalbe tyre. Lately i have tried the Albert on th Front(fairly aggresive pattern) & the Smart Sam on the back. Has excellent grip for a little more aggresive down hill riding. But still low rolling resistance with the Smart Sam. These are both Schwalbe tyres. Good luck. D
  12. Hey There Keen for a ride Friday, but unfortunately it would be in PTA, D

    Vinikourov ???

Thanx, thats a relief, was busy working and watching so obviously caught the ass end of the story. D
  14. Please tell me i heard wrong, whilst watching the Paris - Nice stage yesterday, i thought i heard them say that Vinikourov had passed away after a cycling crash ?? Hope im wrong. D
  15. Hey All Remember the highest tree's always catch the most wind, comparison's bewteen personalities is ludicrous. D
  16. Congrats Rad006 Your gonna luve it, have had mine for over a year, and everytime i get the itch to buy something else. I end up changing something and the bike just seem to get better. Many happy miles. D
  17. Titus Is that a 29' er fork, not that familiar with it, if it is drop me a personal e-mail and let me know what you want for it. Im sitting with a Fox RC36, like new, i should get rid of. Just sitting here in the garage.
  18. Hey Mint Sauce, Titus Thank heavens it was sold at that stage, i actually heard about it, but was about a month to late. I already have the Redline 29'er in my basket with Chain reaction, but just holding on until i can afford a decent set of wheels & fork, i have all the other parts to build one up. Now just somewhere to hide it..
  19. This looks like an even better deal than i saw (cant quite remember either chain reactions or blue sky cycling) but they had a redline 29' for the same or less. But now to explain to the wife why there is another bike in the garage, and that yes i really do need it. Anyone know what the Gary Fisher hard tail 29' is going for locally?
  20. Hey Tnt Granted valid point, and if i am wrong about his questionable practises, i'll be man enough to apologise. If you train with him maybe you could outright ask him if he messed with EPO last year, im sure you would be able to pick up if he wasn't telling the truth. Its kind of sad becuase he was one of the most talented riders around in the early 90's.
  21. Bruce, your right on the money, the only problem is that for counciling to work, there has to be a slight chance of reform, This is a repeat offender were talking about. Sounds almost like someone whom should be up for a Darwin award of the year.
  22. TNT, Dont be a clown u know i cant provide that kind of proof, was just sharing some insider info, from source i trust. Use it lose it,....
  23. I have it on good authority, that at last years Hyper To Hyper, during that period he was in fact on EPO, not like were really surprised. I suppose the question should rather be what period has'nt he been on something.
  24. Hey Wheelsuck, Dont worry i had the same nonsense yesterday, some guy decided he liked my space at the left edge of the bunch, and just proceeded to move into it without a worry in the world. Forced to swerve out i hit the cat eye and had a blow out. Lovely after 5k's. But the rest of the ride turned out okay.
