  1. Sorry, but riding with a gun does not make you safe, it only makes you MORE of a target. Read Nick's own words: “Die een het ’n mes teen my keel gedruk en vuurwapens en geld gevra. Ek het gesê ek ry nie daarmee nie.”
  2. ...but what does it weigh?! (Bike's too small for that kid already!) BTW, what's wrong with bmx's? Riding should be fun at that age
  3. Been laying off the Hubbing for some time, so missed the initial opportunity to jump in on the topwine punning. It just asks for ridiculing. In fact, I think it deserves its own thread! I miss PPA and the blond girl who used to make announcements. She was funny... I still have my transponder, but seeing that there is no "funride racing" here ( a contradiction if ever there was one) I don't get any timings. Strange thing is I still ride my bike. Weird that....
  4. Way off... [constructive debate] What this non-ultimate Hubber doesn't realise is that this PPA w(h)ine has been debate ad nauseum. I'm sick of it. Be glad you guys get timed!!! You honestly don't know how lucky your are. [/END constructive comment]
  5. Focus darling, FOCUS! Don't let me distract you. The secret of a good whine is consistency!
  6. I think you misspelt your name. Shouldn't it be topwhine?!
  7. English please! I don't understand. MIND THE SHOUTING!
  8. Ja, dis 'n curse om so sterk te wees. My geneties superior ouers het my met al hierdie krag opgesaal en nou betaal ek die prys!!! ...en ek eet natuurlik net die beste Spaanse steak
  9. See my post on this page: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/62551-tour-de-france-team-kits/
  10. American Classics also makes a cassette shim which is supposed to help with spreading the load (for alu freehubs), but I can't get hold of it, so this is why I've been looking at alternatives. The problem is the same on the PowerTap wheel which also has a freaking alu body and I've done even more damage there. In fact, it was so bad that the cassette was actually fused with the hub body. I had to use a hammer and screwdriver to moer them loose! I'm hoping the new cassette will solve the problem. I will report back...
  11. OK, I think I might have found a good solution! Took my damaged Zipp freehub to the LBS and getting a new one and they suggested the Marchisio cassette. Brilliant piece of engineering if you ask me!!! The cassette is built up of individual "spacers" and the sprocket sits ON TOP of the spacer! That means that the contact area of the gear is nearly trippled and obviously spreads the load which basically eliminates the damage. Well, that is what I hope! Sounds perfect to me! Additional benefit is that you can buy individual sprockets to replace damaged ones or to build up your own ratio according to the race requirements (like in the old days!) Looks good:
  12. I meant non-alcoholic calorie free drinks!!! NOBODY can fight against beer hunger...
  13. McDonalds doesn't have rooms...
  14. Sorry, but YOU are the one who always insist we stop at McD's after a ride!!!! Liar! Last time I saw you, you had no problems finishing off that massive bacon mega burger. I won't even go into the bag of sweets you drag along! Come to think of it, you have lost loads of weight in the last year, so your story doesn't add up at all!
  15. If you are trying to loose weight, should you be taking on recovery drinks AND food? When I loose weight I make sure I take some energy drink along on the hard training sessions (bonking is not a good form of dieting...), but afterwards I try to eat as little as possible. Yes, have a meal to replenish proteins and vitamins etc, but don't binge or eat and take recovery drinks. Have you got any idea how many calories are in recovery drinks?! I also find drinking lots help to make the hunger go away and often your hunger is actually thirst!
  16. Had a mate like that. He used to pig out on bananas and half a loaf at a time. Couldn't pick up a gram to save his life! Bastard is nearly forty now and still skinny as a rake. No way I'm congratulating him for eating all those pizzas in front of me while I was starving!
  17. Uhhhmmm, ok.... (You looking for a date?)
  18. The bike is for urban commuters who have little space to store their bikes and probably have to carry them up stairs. Not really an issue in SA. Can't think of a single reason why the distributors would import these. Would be a bigger failure than the cyclocross test...
  19. So the moral of the story is that if you're scared of your wife, don't shave your legs?! Woosies...
  20. Nope, 20'ers..... If it can't fold it's useless. Why would you buy it? Make it foldable and you have a winner
  21. Personally I go for the hairy boxershort look. Then again I am married so the risk of point-and-laugh is minimal in my case. It all depends on how it improves the chance of you scoring. If it improves your chance, then remove the hair!
  22. Good one! (For the record, if you are a girl, keep going until you've reached you upper lip. The one below your nose I mean...)
  23. There is already a anti-Robbie rant thread going. Try being whitty there
  24. Yes, I agree. Difficult to have sympathy with a stick insect, but did you really have to bring your vasectomy in to this?!
  25. About 4/5 years ago I lost 30kg's by just eating a bit more responsibly (counting calories) and upping my exercise by running/cycling. Weight comes off quickly and I lost it within a year. Then I stopped watching what I ate and just kept on exercising. Weight has been stable for 3 years, but recently picked up a few kg's living "the good life". To loose them I used the calorie calculator to determine a) what to eat and B) how many calories I burned per hour per activity (very anal I know, but calculating it all works for me!) and in the last 3 weeks I've dropped 4kg's without ever going hungry. Watching/counting calories work for me. Eat about 2000/2200kcal per day and throw in exercise of about 500kcal and you will shed pounds in no time. Watch out for hidden calories like sugar in coffee and wine and cut out snacking! If you burn more than 500-1000 calories you might get cravings to binge, so keep it all to realistic levels. It can be done! I'm sure some people might say that is too much too soon, but I've done it before and it works for me.
