  1. Fark, that's nothing.
  2. Verifying his excuse would help if someone could say how long ephedrine stays in the body for. If it's a week, then not such a good excuse. If it's a month, then perhaps the excuse has merit.
  3. Can someone knowledgable tell us how long ephedrine lasts in your body? I must admit: I race licenced sometimes and I took some cough mixture once when I was very sick without even thinking if it had banned substances. Obviously I wasn't racing, because I was sick. But say the cough mixture had ephedrine, and say I raced a month later and got tested. Would I be in the same boat as Eben?
  4. I use one of those BBB chain cleaners, which I bought for under R200. I've had it over a year and can vouch for it's effectiveness. I think it beats taking the chain off every ride. I clean my MTB chain after every ride. Road chain gets cleaned only seldomly.
  5. Rearrange your casette so that there are two spacers either side of your chosen cog. Put your chosen cog in the middle of the casette and the other sprockets on either side. Then turn your limit screws to the maximum so that you can't access those gears. Or you could also ask your LBS for spare spaces and just put a single cog on your freewheel body and make up the rest of the space with spacers either side?
  6. A 54cm probably does equate to a medium MTB. But why not get her sized by a pro or plug her measurements into a sizing website? I'd say the R3k sounds reasonable. Definitely not a bargain, but probably not that expensive either. Much would depend on the type of components and how much they've been used etc.
  7. Your bike must be the reason there is a worldwide shortage of carbon fibre . Nice-looking bike dude. Do you know if the entire thing is made in China?
  8. Guys, the good news is you can buy stuff locally and cheaper than CRC from Kiwi. If that Chinese stuff lives up to its promise and gains acceptance, it's going to put massive pressure on the likes of Coolheat.
  9. That bike of Mona's looks distincly 21st century to me
  10. Yep, all that's needed now is for you to do a nice summary and publish a story to give it some credibility Jokes aside, do hubbers even know who the current shareholders are? I hear (again rumours) that AM's interest is a minority one, although he's the face of Cycle Lab.
  11. If that is the bike as he rides it, it's interesting to see that he's ditched his beloved Concor saddle. I suspect it's off for the photo shoot and will go on before the TDU...
  12. Flippin smart. I'd love to whether he prefers the Red to DA. Of course he'll say he does because he's a shareholder.
  13. It's the seat tube. Became tricky after Giant introduced the sloping top tube. I reckon your frame is too small: you have too many spacers. I reckon the two most important things to look for are effective top tube length and head tube length. You don't want your bars too high, or have too many spacers, and you don't want to match your bike to a ridiculous stem.
  14. ? In one of the cycling mags a while ago they also reported that Bart Brentjens also rides a frame that is too small for him. The comment was that he rode with this size frame ever since he bagan cycling and are so used to it now that he cannot change to the correct size. Who will contest that Brentjens is not a worthy champ. Maybe it is NOT all about the bike???????? I remember that, Big H. Fabian Cancellara is another one who rides a very small frame for his size.
  15. I'm 1,8m and my Colnago is a 58cm. My Scott is a large, and says 56cm on the frame but is very similar sizing to my Colnago. The major thing is the effective top tube length, which is 56-57cm on most 58cm frames. You'll see a lot of pros ride smaller bikes and then put ridiculously long stems on. Not sure why they do this, but it's safe to say pros are not always strictly logical in their approach. Lance is quite traditional in his approach. Remember, Trek only dropped the horizontal top tube after he retired. He probably just shuns the pro fad of riding bikes that are too small.
  16. Even integrated, there would still be some flex if the seat post is long enough. I agree with JB, I reckon it's a load of nonsense. I'd love to conduct a blindfolded test one day. I reckon half a bar's difference in the tyre pressure would make a 100 times more difference than frame material.

    FELT MTB.

Looks like a very good price, especially if one considers what other importers (Raleigh) are doing. Could it be a bit outdated?
  18. More than a little
  19. Haha, now that's scary! Look how shocked the sunbather is!
  20. I wouldn't say gold is camp. It's more gangster than gay. How about a Wilier in Lampre colours?
  21. BigH, your work bench looks suspiciously similar to your tandem rack

    Shimano RSX

Chains casettes and deraillers shouldn't be any problem at all. Dunno about the shifters and cranks.
  23. ? sorry H' date=' maar daar het 'n tak oop gemaak in Woodmead. ?[/quote'] Great news! IanJ kindly made the trek to Pretoria for us on Saturday. I bought six of the sub-R100 KMC 9spd chains and three 9spd casettes. Altogether, it came to less than the price of one XTR casette at the LBS.
