  1. Yep, exactly BB. They send you the pics even when you aren't wearing the numbers. Then demand payment. I've got the pics to prove that I wasn't wearing their numbers.
  2. Report them to the Department of Trade and Industry. This is a scam. Their business model is illegal in terms of Government Gazette no. 26700 I once challenged them on this issue. I have yet to receive a reply.
  3. Not unless there is something wrong with it. Take the chain off the chainrings and spin your cranks. If they spin too easily or feel like they have grit in them, they might need a look. You can also hold both pedals and pull them up and down, left and right. If there is play, there is a problem.
  4. Buy yourself a chain cleaner. Clean and lube your chain after every ride. If you use a high-pressure cleaner, don't spray it in the hubs, bb or headset. Jules2008-10-13 02:00:15
  5. Sounds promising. Are all MTB BBs English thread? Ie, is it an easy conversion?
  6. Has anybody tried putting a road crankset on a MTB?
  7. This I don't agree with AT ALL. Well Mints, from what BG tells me, you shouldn't be riding an SS then
  8. Couldn't have been that bad if you're still riding - how many years later? Perhaps you should try ride one and all the memories will come flooding back I think the appeal is in the simplicity. It's not for hardcore riding, just goofing about on. A trip over to a mate's house. An easy ride on the spruit. That sort of thing.
  9. ? I second you colonel....still can't see the attraction in single speed. I like my SS for these reasons: - No gear problems: you never get chainsuck, your chain never hits the chainstay, you never miss a gear, etc etc. - The bike is bullet proof. Maintenance is a breeze. This is important for MTB or in climates with wet weather. - Maintenance is also dirt cheap. I bought a new chain for my SS. Cost me all of R25. And that was the marked price - didn't have the nerve to ask for discount - It looks cool - Will be a nice heirloom one day, unlike the average Raleigh.
  10. Nice bike Thug. I'd love to ride one
  11. This is the most important thing any new rider can learn. Particularly one who takes his or her wheels off regularly. I actually taught Bored Girl the same trick today. So many times the solution to a brake problem lies in just opening the skewer, weighting the wheel, and closing it again. That said, I'm sure Parabola is aware of this trick. How about turning the axel/skewer into a familiar position each time you put the wheel in - that might help?
  12. You can get it cheaper at Dischem. Norwood one has lots in stock. Was there yesterday.
  13. Of course this is bad news, but how does one allow strange men - even well dressed ones - get close enough to you while you're riding? I give all pedestrians on the spruit a wide berth. Glad the gent is ok and that he had the sense not to try fight them.

    HKGK'as

I bet Contador is breathing a big sigh of relief he wasn't invited to TDF. Look at all the CERA dopers he beat at the Giro
  15. I saw this groupset on AM's bike at Mogale on Saturday.
  16. By my calculations they'll only need an hour or two to be 100% proficient. Not bad
  17. I agree it can get bliksemse expensive. But I think the problem people make is they aren't prepared to downgrade. IanJ was saying he got a whole Truvative crankset, blades included for R250 the other day. Also, if you want to replace your cassette, go for Deore or cheaper. It works EXACTLY the same as higher models. The only difference is the weight. And weight really doesn't mean much, despite what the manufacturers would like you to believe.
  18. The saddle isn't even straight!
  19. I think it's always a good idea to pack a small can of pepper spray. I keep one in my car but unfortunately tend to forget when I cycle. Sportsmans sells the ones that you velcro on to your top tube or stem. That way it is readily accessible in the event of an attack.

    More Felt...

Yes, I wonder they routed the cable that way. It's asking for trouble. Very nice looking bike. How much is a "normal amount" of cash?
  21. Never mind the toppies, he gives the elite riders a hard time too. He dropped most of us up Hekpoort at last year's Satellite race. Not to mention the damage he does at MTB races. Jules2008-10-03 01:14:42
