  1. this bike should be easy to spot. hope it gets found. unfortunately the chances of catching the culprits are probably close to zero.
  2. Thanks for the pics - is that Izzy riding without a helmet?
  3. nice. I see the population of Paramaribo is about eight times the total number of Argus entrants. Is that a pic of the entire police force?

    CSA database

just make yourself a few copies - it's not difficult. Keep one in your car and one under your saddle to arm yourself against the CSA bureaucrats...
  5. Put 25c tyres on your road bike and come ride Phambili on Sunday.
  6. Think it's easier to make sure your bottles don't leak and just squirt a bit of water/lube on the thingymajiggy now and again.
  7. I'm guessing because shimano doesn't make double-chainring front deraillers for MTB?
  8. Can't imagine that front chainrings experience much wear and tear, even on a MTB - and they are simple, hard-wearing components. The front derailler on my road bike is many years old and still going strong. But it is campy....
  9. nice floors
  10. that is one pimpin' couch
  11. Yes, Samma, not sure why a black eye accompanies your statement. Towing is encouraged by the organisers. If you leave your partner behind you get a time penalty. It's a great team event - my favourite on the calendar. Thanks for the pics, Zaskar!
  12. hmmmm, I think next time Supersport Cycles has an unhappy customer they should ask: "do you post on the hub?" answer: "what's the hub" = "read your warranty properly." answer: "i'm an Ultimate Hubber" = "here's your new light, sir/madam"
  13. So I decided to enter 94,7 today. Was very interested to see the following message while entering: "The Cycle Challenge data management system which is linked directly to the CSA database, will retrieve your CSA licence number according to the ID number you have entered. Your licence number will be displayed below. (At this stage you may proceed with your entry WITHOUT your CSA licence number.) Cycling SA Licence Number Cycling SA Status " So, what I want to know: If CSA is so smart, why on earth do we have to present our licences every time we pick up our numbers????????????????????? What's more: in the Province of Doom (aka Eastern Cape), the officials there make you race with your licence in your pocket! These licences are notoriously easy to fake anyway, so the whole presentation thing seems to be a waste of time.
  14. Those Corima wheels look HOT
  15. BB, I'm a little confused as to why you used a BMX tjoop? Why not an ordinary MTB one?
  16. I reckon if Cycle Arts didn't do an acceptable job, then nobody will. I gave them a lugged Colnago Master to respray many years ago and I was very impressed with the job.
  17. JB, while we're on the topic of your courses, could you please provide a little more detail on what attendees can expect from each of your modules? For example, does the bike maintenance course include maintenance of bearings? Also, I noted somewhere that your course includes tools. Are you able to specify whether these tools are suitable for Shimano/Campy/Sram, etc etc and whether one can specify tools to their particular needs?
  18. Any chance of a pic of your beloved steel bike, JB?
  19. The welds on my single speed GT are also very neat, although not quite as neat as this. The thing is damn heavy though.
  20. very smart.
  21. Dischem in Norwood has just got a huge consignment of Cytomax. It sells for R275,99 for a tub. I think this is some of the best value, especially considering that Cytomax works much, much, much better for me than other so-called energy drinks. And I only use 1 scoop per bottle. Unfortunately Cytomax does have a bad name for price, because it used to sell for more than R300 a tub about seven years ago. Add the effects of food inflation and that makes Dischem's price look like a steal. i think their good price is just a function of their buying power. I've noticed that other things at Dischem, such as soap, are a good 8% cheaper than Pick n Pay, which is regarded as a friend of the consumer, so something doesn't seem right....
  22. If this is the future, I want to get there asap
  23. All I can say is Faaahk. I want one. Think anybody'd complain if i rocked up at the Jock hill climb on that thing? PS. Does Gunter leave his helmet at home cos it's too heavy?
