  1. You need a Lapierre to make a french boss happy
  2. Ewep, think you should hang your bike up in the boardroom. The execs will think it is a piece of art. Besides, your company is listed on the Nasdaq, so an American machine would be appropriate
  3. I'll only replace it if it gets stolen from President Place And why on earth would the crooks steal an aluminium Cannondale when there is a sexy steel 29-incher single-speed parked next to it?
  4. That beautiful green machine that you left in the basement of President Place - locked up with a thin piece of cable to a flimsy drain pipe - it's still there dude. Got photographic evidence to prove it, too Ewep's bike next to Jules's trusty ride-to-work steed:
  5. Actually i think that AM does drive a Porsche, if that's what you meant. Perhaps that's because his service is above average though?
  6. hmmm seems such problems are not limited to online shops.
  7. I guess the moral of the story is to only order stuff that is in stock. Their expected dates for out-of-stock items are completely unrealiable.
  8. We often hear good things about Chain Reaction Cycles (CRC) on this forum, and I'm sure they are valid. However, I'd like to share my bad experience with this crowd. More than a month ago I ordered some stuff on CRC - enough value to get the free shipping. One of the items, a Mavic wheelset, was out of stock, but I was informed it'd be there in 3-5 days. Several days later, I emailed CRC. They took a few days to reply to my mail, but informed me that the item would be in stock on March 19, which came and went and still no word from CRC. I mailed them again to let them know that I would like to cancel the order and re-order stuff that is in stock. Few days later they mailed back to say the item was expected in stock on March 28, which came and went. I mailed them to tell them to cancel the order. Now I see they only cancelled the wheels, but put through the rest of the order on my credit card! Which means they are sending me the other stuff and I will have to pay exorbitant postage (the sale price is now less than the free postage amount). Add to that the rand has depreciated substantially since I placed the order (which I understand is not CRC's fault, but very annoying nevertheless, and would not have happened if they'd been straightforward about their stock situation).
  9. Very nice. What I want to know is whether there is a change of kit in the pipeline
  10. Those Trek ripoffs might not know how to spell. Also, it's possible that the carbon layup might not be as good. But I reckon for styling they beat Trek hands down
  11. I agree with Spidey. It's not thaaat hard to compete with the top guys here. Not that I'm saying it's easy to win either Ethics aside, doping to reach the top of SA cycling is a pretty stupid thing to do. You're never really going to make enough money as an SA pro to justify the financial and physical costs of the dope. However, if you make it to the top of SA cycling and into a top European squad without the use of jungle juice, then there is probably good financial incentive to get yourself a good doctor and take yourself to the next level.
  12. You can get that for free if you ride during the day
  13. I'm interested to know the motivation for making your own light. Is it because: 1) It's cheaper 2) Light manufacturers don't make the light you want 3) Sense of accomplishment 4) Other
  14. Who was that, Thug?
  15. I should make it.
  16. The new TCS shorts are.... interesting. Looks like House of Paint could be one of the sponsors there...
  17. Jeez I haven't kakked off so much in a long time. Epoh and Sam had to turn round on the hills to see what happened to me . Only did one lap and when I got home I was zzzzzzzzzz Well done BB! That was a hard course. BG and I took one look at it and decided it was too technical! BG hasn't been the same since she broke her chainring protector so she decided to stay at home today.
  18. bruce, of course I "F@#$ing cyclist litterbugs" But thanks to these clowns (and I don't think it's just a fringe circus), the whole cycling fraternity gets tarred with the same brush.
  19. So BG and I decided to scope out tomorrow's provincials course at Fountains today. Was disgusted to find that the course was littered with empty goo sachets. Here is a pic just of those that I picked up along the route and stuffed into my back pocket More than 20 sachets! It's a frikkin nature reserve: how hard is it to put the empty sachet back in your pocket. These nameless litterbugs will probably be the first to winge and complain if the powers that be ban cyclists from Fountains. And you could hardly blame them if they did. Incidentally, it seems FIT's Super GOO is the most popular among cyclists (or at least cyclist litterbugs) followed closely by USN's Vooma. My personal favourite is the Esspresso Love. Found one of those.
  20. There can't be too many forks under 1,4kg?
  21. If it was me I'd take a two sets of new Kenda Karma tubeless tyres. Great all-round tyre and only R325 each on CRC
  22. Thanks for the pics BB! Think my tongue was hanging out because I had just seen LB's hair cut
  23. I snuck out of work early today to ride to Kyalami. This was because our morning ride was rained on. Would have been the first time I'd trained there in more than four years. Alas, it was not to be. IanJ sms'd to say it was cancelled by the time I reached the Woodmead turnoff on the old Joburg road. So I decided to spice up my ride home by turning left and detouring through Alex on the way home. In hindsight maybe not the smartest thing to do alone, but all went well in the end. Even got directions from a friendly taxi driver.
