  1. Watched Destroyer on the dish the other night. What a tough, flippen movie! Kidman was brilliant. It's a hard watch, but definitely worth it. 9/10
  2. An interesting read on the Nike VaporFly controversy: https://www.outsideonline.com/2408971/nike-vaporfly-controversy
  3. This speech is very much aligned with the philosophy that JoshOdi used to preach: https://www.theguardian.com/film/2020/feb/10/joaquin-phoenixs-oscars-speech-in-full
  4. Well done. I can honestly say, since I've been meat free. My energy levels have been through the roof.
  5. Don't you find it interesting how Trump has used this tactic to paralyze the once health democracy known as America. Scandal after scandal, he's mesmerised the American people into this stupor while pushing through - Tax cuts and deregulations, that enrich himself and his wealthy handlers while disenfranchising the vulnerable and endangering the planet. It's almost like he read the book (giving him a bit too much credit here) and used it as a sort of manual to run his presidency.
  6. For other studies check these out: Post 19
  7. There are a number of studies done on this: 1) The China Study 2) https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10496449 3) https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5971679/#r51 4) https://www.nature.com/articles/nutd20173 Definitely all animals are animals, but I doubt the snakes, rats and worms are being slaughtered by the billions. I was referring to the poor guys in over filled pens, standing in their own waste etc. pumped full of antibiotics and hormones, who's only solace is to land up on the end of meat hook.
  8. "I DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE!!!" LOL!

  13. So I hope a lot of you are thinking about Veganuary and are willing to at least give it a try. I subscribed to Veganuary this year and have been meat free since. It's been an eye opener discovering all the amazing vegan/vegatarian options out there. If you need some motivation to get started give this a watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2AYOViszK_A Veganuary for the win.
  14. Also in the Area is Kaylee's: https://kaylees.co.za/
  15. Glow Bowl for the WIN!!
  16. It makes sense though right? The number one killer in 1st world countries is Cardiovascular disease and diabetes. And the only scientifically proven cure for those issues is a whole food, plant based diet. So my take is that, this message is getting out there and people are willing to give it a try. It's super encouraging. Can you imagine how much load gets taken off of your health care system if people just change their diet. Individuals win - Countries win - Animals win. Win - Win - Win. What's not to like.
  17. Thanks RB!! Yum.
  18. Wayne have you read The China Study?
  19. Would love to get that recipe please, RB.
  20. The point is that if you are not feeling great or are struggling with weight, cardiovascular issues, blood pressure issues. Why not give it a try? What have you got to lose? As long as a bit of work goes into researching the recipes (Odi posted a nice diagram early on in this thread) then why not give it a shot?
  21. Geez if even part of this is true, I'm not sure why people wouldn't at least give it a try: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvWeeABtN9U
  22. I gave some thought as to the purpose of this movie. I came to the conclusion this was made for mass consumption specifically, but not exclusively for the American market. The use of NFL players and the MMA main protaganist lends itself nicely to the 'merican masculine ideal. So instead of the some “pure, enlightened and woke capital-city greenies” shoving a vegan lifestyle down your throat. You have some likable, relatable characters who you can go on this journey with. It's light on science no doubt. But like you said its main objective was to promote plant based diets. I think it achieved this by establishing: 1) A plant based diet is good for you 2) Eating vegetables doesn't make you less of a man (I think there is still a stigma attached to vegetarianism/veganism that it's a unmanly(whatever that is) thing to do.) Hence the strongest guy in the world piece, the manhood section and the NFL players adopting plant based. 3) Eating Vegetables are good for the planet I think it's achieved its goals quite nicely. A lot of guys in the office are talking about it and considering trying it for a couple days, so I think its mission accomplished.
  23. Any hubbers in OZ, able to tell us what's going on over there? Looks like Armageddon or something: https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2019/nov/11/australia-fires-nation-braces-for-most-dangerous-bushfire-week-ever-seen
  24. Yeah, instead of looking at sensationalist headlines lets rather focus on what the science is telling us. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2019/nov/05/climate-crisis-11000-scientists-warn-of-untold-suffering
