  1. Shame it looked like Crowie wanted to break down and maybe cry. Its tough. http://triathlete-eu...t-it-used-to-be Still a champion.
  2. Due to work, Ive done like NO training. Kakking myself actually. Just going to have to apply rules 5 and 9, and enjoy the day.
  3. http://triathlon.competitor.com/2013/10/video/breakfast-with-bob-paul-top-kona-age-grouper-kyle-buckingham_87558 http://triathlon.competitor.com/tag/breakfast-with-bob-and-paul
  4. Hiya Anyones thoughts on the race. I sat up till past 2, watching the race, and I tell you the womans race was so much more entertaining. In one of the interviews given by Crowie. He made mention of something of in the lines of "Kona'ed out". (I.e from the years same racing). And I think after this race you could see some were "Kona'ed out". At the end, for me personally, I was a little saddened by the performance of the seasoned veterans, and im left thinking the championships was nothing more than sponsorship responsibility. Don't get me wrong Van Lierde was brilliant, but he was not under any pressure or threatened. Rinna on the other hand, you could see *wanted* that win. May be im looking for that 'Iron War'. (e.g. Dave vs Mark, Macca vs Realert). Any way, just me 2c.
  5. Hiya Anyone listened to some of the podcasts on http://www.tritalksa.co.za/ Some great information and interviews, esp the one with Catherine Grenfell. (Thought I was looking in a mirror, interms of training time constraints and Triathlon being daunting) The interview with Jodie Swallow was good too. Enjoy Brent
  6. Got a friend coming from AUS, that very weekend. So im out.
  7. I dont think this thread is about being cheapskates. Its about, growing the sport, but not damaging all of out wallets in the same time and space. (Infact making the entrance to low wont grow the sports either) It is as, as one of the previous posters said, do you charge R50 to get X amount of attendance or do you charge R100 to get Y attendace (Y being less than X). As a result, the "price of entry desicion makers" do need to be policed and reprimanded if it turns out they set an unrealistic entrance fee. In addition. Listening to 567, I hear we are in for more petrol price hikes, meaning an ever increasing squeeze on the middle income household. It will be interesting to see how competitors will be able to continue "just paying" let alone we justifying these addictions, to ourselves.
  8. Ive got one of these pouches http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=36866 Only its not the Ironman brand. May I ask, what pouch do you use to store food?
  9. My question is. Where do you pull all the food? Those spec savers garments we are too wear (thats if you look to the discount). Are they bibs or a tri suit tops? Do they have back pockets where you can stash all your food, like a cycling top. Reason I ask this, is that I have a Orca single piece tri suit. But its does not have any 'stashing food' areas. Thanks Brent
  10. You will do great. Theres plenty others like you and I, that will be hurting.
  11. I probably will take over 7hours. But I always race for a finish in mind. Im not really a time watching competitor.
  12. Actually I am. I know im gonna be hurting. But its weird, Ive made peace and accept it, and cant wait to get out there and see what I can do. Given the short time frame Ive had to train.
  13. Hiya How much and what do you take on the bike? I then have a question for those that just focus on a 'finish' . Is full IM achievable with, post 70.3 a 'dramtic increase in training'? Thanks Brent P.s. You can more or less guage my fitness and idea by this posting (http://www.thehubsa....00#entry1899267)
  14. I know what you mean. 2012, I eat, lived, breathed 70.3. I was charged. Anyway, let go out there and have some fun.
  15. I too are gonna be in the hurt locker, come 20 Jan. But I always knew I would, for I left the training and the idea to late. My Idea was too just concentrate on the swimming (doing +/- 3Ks in the pool ) and bike (been doing +/- 100Ks over hilly terrain), then run walk, run the run leg (been doing +/- 10K runs, but im just not comfortable in the run ... lack of fitness). But now I got another crazy idea .... Im thinking of enter Full IM. With the family and work, im finding it increasingly difficult to get to train, so im thinking, if Im ever to enter and do a full IM. Nows the time and just do it and get it over with.
  16. Theres a mobile nurse that I make use of (Heard a lot of other Triathlete make use of her too) .... and surprisingly enough I too need a 'pick me upper'. Shes coming to my work on Thursday. Long story short, get the jab. I believe it works. HTH Brent P.s. Shout if you want her contact details.
  17. Got two punches leaving Paarl. Was not a happy camper.
  18. You joking !!! No that sucks.
  19. Hiya I remember a while ago, there was a thread about post nasal drip, look it up. Some people cant help it for they suffer from post nasal drip. Maybe you should, just slow down, think. Because I can tell you, that is *nothing*, compared the guys and gals I saw drop their gu sachets and the two tjops throwing their banana peels in the vegetation. Sure its disgusting ... but as I said, some people cant help it.
  20. Great day and great event. Reckon a great training ride for 70.3.
  21. I can not agree more with ADE. Don't underestimate the route or race profile you see on the web site. This course tests you, in every way, to claim the prize of an Ironman 70.3 finisher. Ive heard from three people (all Full IM finishers), they felt this course / event was harder than the full.
  22. Which Pick and Pay, for the two close to me, dont stock it.
  23. Im glad this topic came up, for I was going to make a posting and ask about USN recovery. What caught my attention was that at Cyclefunatic was selling 32GI for R295. Im very fortunate that my wife works in HR at Makro. So not only is USN recovery cheaper than 32GI, think its R225, but also, I can get a few rands off, if my wife buys it for me. Now ive been using 32GI, since I decided to redo, Ironman 70.3, and I think it does wonders. What your view on USN recovery, for Im not going to continue keep paying those prices.

  25. Might want to listen to the John Maytham on 567. http://www.capetalk.co.za/onair/tunein/tunein.asp
