  1. I have'nt tried the Flip Flop hubs yet, but the sandles are great....or is that Slip Slop?
  2. I was also recently confronted with the choice between a soft 26" or a hard 29", and after test riding both, and considering my applications, I went with a soft tail 26". Without running other peoples choices down in this regard, I am not sold on the 29" concept yet. Think it is far over rated, and not my style. My advice, ride both, and then decide, as everybody will have his or her own opinion, while you are stuck with the bike and the invoice!
  3. Most tyre sealants contain ammonia, which will result in rim corrosion eventually. Mavics are known to be prone to ammonia corrosion, therefore Sludge Products is making an ammonia free sealant called All Terrain (orange box).
  4. wynandvdmerwe, a Merida 96 carbon would not allow a mellow man in the saddle, so I think the anti-Merida-dude should rather go test ride the woman specific Merida Juliet Lite to get a feel of a proper bike!
  5. What about Contador's choice, clenbuterol?
  6. All depends if your wheelset is fitted with a satellite tracking device!
  7. Come on cervelo, wake up dude! This is a common practice amongst the affluent population. Buying the best products at the best prices, is a win win situation, cause you score both ways. Then again, you would'nt know this, cause you are not in this position yet!
  8. What about Merida decals, but on second thought, once a monkey....
  9. Last week there was a newbie advertising some awesome bikes, one was a Trek Top Fuel at great prices. He was from Indonesia, but I immediately smelt SCAM! Could be the same dude who fabricated the Bloemfontein address.
  10. Guys, I will have to go work now to earn some bucks, otherwise I will not be able to afford those rotors, or maybe one of the bikes that Mampara rides!
  11. Can't recall mentioning the price of my bike, so I don't exactly know how you calculated the percentage of my bike's value to my new rotors? But nevertheless, rather waste your time drooling about other peoples bikes, while I will use my time (and bucks) to go better and smarter. Thanx to my favourite on-line bike store for bring us great stuff at great prices!
  12. I wish the Raleigh and Silverback riders would stick to their heavy metal, and allow the not-so-cash-strapped riders to enjoy their toys! Those titanium rotors will look great on my carbon Merida 96 Team, just wished they had 180's in stock. Will give Jnr a call later today to see if he can make a plan for me!
  13. To ride your bike ass-blister-free, first look at your saddle and then at your chamois/short. A decent saddle with a perfect fit, should do the trick. A decent short, ie. Assos or shomething similar, will further compiment your ride. If these two fail to provide you joy, then get Assos cream!
  14. I am so confused, and do not know whether to remove my saddle bag, or leave it on for tomorrows race in Durbanville! Will have to flip a coin on this one. If it is tails, and I go bare back, I wonder if any of the anti-saddle-bag-hubbers would help me out, should I need any logistical support? .......did'nt think so!
  15. I roll on a set of Vitoria Open Corsas, and I can highly recommend them. They are light (215g) and puncture proof. They tend to get little cuts from bad roads, but nothing serious (not even close to a puncture). Crown's price of R399 is good. I am replacing them with Schwalbe's Ultremo R.1 (180 g) to save some rotational weight.
  16. They are referring to the carbon weave. 3K is the standard weave that looks like little squares, and UD is undirectional, giving a more flowing weave of the carbon.
  17. My advice to you, loose the idea of road bike tyres for your mtb (before Style Man spots you!), and rather get a low profile fast rolling mtb tyre. Try Killer Bees (650 g) for around R180 a piece or Rubena Syferos (480 g) for R500 a piece. The latter is much more expensive, but the reduced rotational weight will be to your benefit. At least your bike will look the part, perform like a road bike, and can be used for trails! Have you ever seen a mtb with road tyres? Makes me think of the old school Western Flyers .
  18. Next time you ride your Cube past a shop, carefully look at the reflextion in the window...you will see it!
  19. Merida...nuff said! Great bikes with great back-up service! I hear Cube is also good, but can't comment on after sales service.
  20. You can use any rotor with your caliper, but my experience tells me that Shimano calipers just works better with Shimano rotors. I once used Hayes rotors on my XT brake set, and although it was ok, the difference was noticeable only after I fitted XT rotors. If you are looking for XT rotors for cheap, give me a shout. Have two (160 and 180) for R250 (both).
  21. Does the grass at my local park count for off road? Only joking. My steed gets a thorough clean if he gets his wheels dirty on the trails!
  22. Thanx!
  23. Hey dude, get over yourself, cause that stuff aint working! Also tried it, but water gave me more of a kick! So Bloody Agent, I think it is all in the mind, and I would not recommendt any therapy for your problem!
  24. After... Changed my beloved Merida from a puppy to a billy goat!
  25. Before....
