  1. Just kidding!
  2. I have displayed my Merida HT twice before on this thread, but the next time that she will be making her appearance on thehub, she will have a soft ass! Having her built onto a Merida 96 Team Multivan carbon frame! If all goes well, she should be out of surgery by the weekend!
  3. Silverback or Bianchi? Cheese or chalk? Nuff said!
  4. I would like to add to this thread... what was up with all the rudeness of the PPA volunteers at the start of the Engen Dynamic. Noticed this old bag walking around in cycle kit (instead of Grim Reaper's coat)shouting at poor youngsters who obviously participated in a race for the first time. Enough to put you off cycling, which is supposed to be fun, for a long time. Not cool at all!
  5. Joey, I don't think that you must be concerned at this stage, as signals are not always picked up inside a building. Go outside and test your unit. The Garmin often indicates a speed and elevation reading after a start up, which will return to zero levels once it has reset it's self.
  6. Camelback Flowmeter - WTF! Saw a dude at the Engen Dynamic 99 km start sporting his Camelback fitted with a flowmeter, so I asked him, whats up with the meter bro? To cut a long story short, he was actually doing the 46 km, and explained to me that it is important for him to measure his hydration, hence the meter! What happened to riding our bikes? I think I have seen it all!
  7. Riding cross-chain will give you problems, no matter what group you are using. My Ultegra can also ride small - small and big-big, but I don't do it, as it will cause chain, and cassette damage in no time!
  8. Is Killrney PPA training on tonight? Great day for Killarney!
  9. Do you still get these watches with the kiddies meal at Spur?
  10. I think the bathroom scale method is more likely to be accurate, than the kitchen scale one. So give it a try. Do you know why they make those WW scales only accurate to 10k's...cause you should not ride a bike any heavier than that!
  11. You are not serious! There must be far better, and more accurate methods to get your bike's weight than this one. How about popping in at your LBS and using their top-end Topeak or Parktool scale? Maybe that kitchen scale will be fine to weigh your Avatar's upper lip, but I don't think it is good for bikes!
  12. Ok H.v.W, we helped you with advice, now it is your turn. Where can I buy legs like that, and before I forget, do they actually work...I mean can you ride a bike with them?
  13. Also bought a Garmin Edge 500 from them. Great fast service. Placed my order the Sunday evening at a massive discount compared with SA prices, and have my unit in my hand the Thursday morning. DHL actually phoned me the Wednesday, but I was not at the office to take delivery. Faster than CRC, and far better prices. Got my Garmin for 50% of the local price! B)
  14. I don't think there is a problem with your scale, or your bikes, but rather the over optimistic Raleigh or Silverback owners! You know the story of, ...when I grow up, I want to be a fireman! Same here, ....when I grow up I want to be a Pinarello, weighing just 6.8! But reality is -it ain't going to happen. So my advise to you, be happy with the (true) weight of your bikes, and ignore the far-fetched claims!
  15. First Accent and Cape Storm are both good, they fit snug, and have good chamois', but unfortunately don't compare to Assos! I have also noticed that if you hang Cape Storm or First Accent, or any of the other under R1000 shorts on the washing line together with an Assos, the other one's chamois is dry long before the Assos. This is due to the density of the Assos chamois, which is beneficial on those long rides. Get CS or FS for training, and Assos for when you really need bum protection.
  16. When last did you give the calipers a good clean? Remove the pads, and check that the pistons operate smoothly, by pushing them back. Once cleaned, the problem should be solved. Also check that the spring that holds the pads are still good, and did not suffer any damage with removing the wheel and fitting the caliper block. SLX brakes are great and are not known for giving problems. Since I changed from Hayes to XT, my braking has been sweet without any rotor/pad rub! @jaco - just read the Giant's cv on the footer and you will know what breaks, or rather brakes he is using!
  17. The Sidi is a bit of a narrow fit, so I would suggest going up 1 size for comfort. I wear a no UK11 in dress shoes and a UK12 in running shoes. In Sidi I take a 48 and it fits perfect. Good luck with your purchase, they are great footwear!
  18. Garmin Edge 500 - no magnets, no wires, no problems!
  19. Don't know about a brother called Anton, but I do know he has a cousin called Specialized!
  20. That is a bummer of note! I ordered some expensive carbon goodies two months ago, and all went smooth. Place my order on the Wed pm and received my stuff next Tues am... awesome. With my order came Look bar tape, but unfortunately the wrong one. I ordered cork, and received the more expensive microtex one, so I pop them a e-mail, only to receive a reply back almost immediately. They were fresh out of cork, and instead send me the alternative (which I am pretty pleased with after I gave it a try). They apologised for the error, said I can keep the microtex tape, and three days later I was refunded for the cork tape. Now that is what I call service. I browse their website everyday in search of something (don't know what) that I might need, just to experience their great service again!
  21. Ultegra for me anytime, and I must agree with Johan B, have you ever seen a sexier crank than the new Ultegra/Dura? As soon as my budget can allow it, it is Di2 for me! Tried Sram on test bikes, just would't work for me! I guess it boils down to personal choice at the end, cause they are both great groups. Next question : blonds or brunettes?
  22. Ksyrium SL's are great wheels, supper stiff any light, and just right for climbing the windy hills of the Argus. I roll on 2010 Ksyriums, and I don't know if there are much difference between mine and yours. 2010's weighs 1485g, not the lightest, but ok! My normal flat riding I do with aero deep sections, but will definitely fit the Mavics for the Argus. If you had good service from Mavic, stick with Mavic, and maybe just compare the weight between new and old, and then decide if it is worth it.
  23. If your valve core cannot be removed, as explained in the above posts, and you want to use a sealant, get Sludge Presta, which is specifically made to flow through the presta valve. Good stuff!
  24. FFS this thread is reminding me of Egoli, you miss a few episodes, but when you return, you realise that have actually missed nothing...everybody is still raving about some negligible matter! Make you guys a deal...those in favour of compact cranks, raise your hands. Those in favour of standard cranks, raise your hands. Now, listen carefully, those who chose compact cranks, ride them! Those who chose standard cranks...remember to listen carefully... ride them! (And those of you who want to act gay, get back in the closet, and do your queen thing there!)
  25. FFS, took me more than an hour, but I am entered! Was fortunate that I only had to pay the R245 PPA special, and not the CSA licence fee!
