  1. He doesn't have a choice........ Just kidding, if he's got zero talent like dad then he can do whatever he's good at, or not it's ultimately his choice.
  2. Thanks all, hopefully a little of my infectious love for cycling will rub off and we all can help lift the profile of cycling. My son is 4, so that gives us about 5 years before he's the right age to ease into cycling in one form or another, and by helping me to help you to help our sport we'll be helping my son and lots of kids like him that should be given the best opportunities to try excel.
  3. And by not getting involved you're missing out on the most adrenaline inducing discipline the sport of cycling can attest (BMX is close). Don't knock it TILL you've tried it, and don't be ashamed to admit you're too scared to give it a bash, you wouldn't be the first or the last
  4. Nice evenings racing to ease my legs back after a week off the horse. Great to see Poison, AL, Oom Chris to name a few. Fatty looked to be sporting a styling set of perma-tubes and I can confirm that he completed the whole thing without any sound of escaping air although his heart sank as someone mimicked the sound.... Lots of "bandits" masquerading in +1 including last weeks winner..... Ronelle, awesome photos so where's the one of me pulling my tongue at you
  5. See you at Killarney pal.....
  6. Buy yourself a Lane4 artificial chamois from Sportsmans WH, easier and lighter than a towel. Get two pairs of water resistant overshoes, if it looks like rain, wear them. Flashing front and rear is mandatory (Cateye or BLT) Rain jacket in your side pocket unless it's clear like 2day Get a rear mudguard if you plan on riding in the rain All I can think of for now. HTH
  7. Would look even better with my 404's, a red Arione and some Keo's with the red bit at the back
  8. as ridden by Rabobank next year https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=31722
  9. Training on my own - YES Racing or training in a group - NO
  10. So that's the third team/club. Make your mind up dude (ette) You better pray the Outriders oaks don't check the pic of you in CD kit
  11. Before/during (races/long rides) - MuscleScience Staminade Endure/USN Cytopower HP After - USN Pure Protein IGF/USN Recover MAX
  12. Indeed, combined with the new DA or SRAM and my ZIPP 404's, this is currently my dream machine
  13. Could prove to be costly if you continue to crash test your MTB I had the 305 and it's a great "toy" both on and off road, worth the money and the 705 must be the holy grail now that it can interface with power meters, surprised the Jock hasn't got one yet.....
  14. And SA spend R11 bar on a publicity stunt in Beijing that opened a week too late, isn't that more than they spent on the whole of SA sport?
  15. When I'm big like you
  16. Nice one BMCFan So how did go OT did the 30hour weeks training leading up to TB pay off Killarney this week should be a breeze.....ShortLegs2008-08-19 01:13:16
  17. So that means, lunch with Madiba, half a bar and a farm somewhere nice Now all we need is for a BMX and MTB XC medal and cycling sport won't look so pathetic for SA.... ShortLegs2008-08-19 01:37:29
  18. Thats nearly 62kph ave, for 4km, FROM A STANDING START!!!
  19. Was great, legs were a little "sore" on Mon/Tues but fully enjoyed the Omnium/team racing. https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=29468&KW=winter+league&PN=4
  20. Name and shame buddy, name and shame!!!
  21. Great pics Ronelle. <dissapointed> At least the racing was good because the support was atrocious, charity or no charity . Next time anyone b1tches about the state of cycling in SA take a long hard look in the mirror. You're looking at the true reason. <dissapointed/>
  22. Don't waste your time round Hyde Park, the aggravation of people, horse riders, walkers, runners is just more of a hassle. It's a short (<10km) ride to Richmond Park and that is the best 16km of easily accessble riding (road) that you'll find. 5-10 laps can be a brilliant workout and it's speed restricted (for cars) and fairly quiet. There's some organised rides in the evenings during the week and saturday mornings. Make your way to Sigma Sports in Kingston, they'll be able to help you out with organised group rides and they're one of the best bike shops in London. If you have access to a car, make your way to Hillingdon (West London close to Heathrow), they race Tuesday evenings and most weekends and are supported by ex-world track medalists and it's even safer to ride than Richmond Park (dedicated cycle circuit)
  23. Where will you be based?
