  1. so close but no cigar..
  2. Should be interesting seeing the fallout after the city centre is effectively closed for the whole of Sunday.
  3. More of the same for the final nights racing last night . Couple of good races and even a couple of SA juniors flying the flag (sadly at the back ). Luckily, the Aussies were gracious enough to cheer loudly for everyone, maybe they're not so bad after all....
  4. It's brilliant and the lack of local spectators bewilders me . Some of these guys/gals are mega-stars of the future and while watching it's difficult to comprehend they're only pikkies around 17 years old The "water" down in Aus must be good, the size of those kids is amazing
  5. Try and get yourself some retro Rapha kit from the UK (seriously). I have it on good authority that it's better than Assos, no helmet required
  6. Last night Madison was hectic as was the woman's points although the latter was utterly dominated by Megan Dunn, class act . Some insight into my thoughts on the Madison for anyone interested: The Italians we're a joke and caused a few missed changes because of their dangerous riding even after losing a lap The Japanese should stick to Keirin, those little oakies fell hard The pace looked fastish, but not eyes out for the whole distance. The French were half asleep to let the Swiss win the last sprint thus relegating them off the podium Aussies rode well to score consistently although the penultimate sprint win sealed it for them The Swiss looked like Marvulli/Risi with loads of skill but just read the race wrong The Belgians were classy along with the Germans
  7. Don't feel bad WH, we laughed at you with your helmet on on you race bike
  8. Turn the handlebars around and stick some Saffa flags on dammit
  9. So last night I managed to drag myself up to Bellville to witness some 's of the future and a great nights racing at the velodrome . I'm sad to say that the support from the local cycling contingent was abysmal. We should all be ashamed. I hope there are copious numbers of supporters at Sunday's road race and these kids don't get to suffer in our beautiful city with little or no support . Come on people, it's the World Championships ffs
  10. Don't waste your money on Ultremos, unless you have money to burn Before making any decisions, check out this comprehensive test: http://www.conti-tyres.co.uk/conticycle/road_tyres/attack%20force/Resistance%20Fighters.pdf
  11. Why not something along the lines of next years model
  12. I'm a definite NO, used up all my bike coupons for Sunday
  13. Here's how I would rate them: Used for:<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> 18 months Price Paid: ???? ? can?t remember, but they were second hand Bought: British Cycling Strengths: Strength, durability, ease of maintenance, the hubs are silky smooth. More aero then the Mavics. Sapim spokes more readily available Weaknesses: None come to mind Similar Products Used: Ksyrium SL, Dura Ace Bike Setup: Giant TCR Advanced ISP T-Mobile, Dura Ace, Cinnelli Ram, Fizik Arione Carbon, Look Keo Ti Bottom Line: The wheels are head and shoulders above the Mavics. They?ve never needed truing since I bought them and they were second hand. The wheels spun silky smooth after subjecting them to 2 full winters commuting into <?: prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />London. I sold them on thinking the Ksyriums and Dura Ace wheels were enough, in hindsight I should have sold the Ksyriums. Value Rating:<?: prefix = v ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" /> Overall Rating:
  14. I have two pairs of Assos longs and they are the bee knees. As Mux said, you can't go wrong with Winstopper or Goretex.
  15. Super-mega-fugly, with a mouldy mango.......
  16. ... and if he had a choice of winning an olympic gold or a TDF stage, he'd take the tour stage hands up

  21. Not surprising since a few of them are running the electronic groups set in the road stages. (from Gerolsteiner )ShortLegs2008-07-09 01:37:59
