  1. Congrats to George Smith in the vets 60-64, sommer double SA champ winning the TT by almost 20s and then trouncing the rest of the competition by 2:43 in the RR Very well done, when I'm big I want to ride like Oom George!!!
  2. Image resizer from MS is the easiest option
  3. They also separate the nationals out in the UK with the Vets riding a completely different date/venue. The Madison is run separately and makes for much better attendance. I also agree that ditching non-Worlds events and inclusion of Scratch and Omnium should be a priority for 2009.
  4. Welcome to the hub worsie, good luck in finding a riding buddy.
  5. Maybe StringBean recorded it, worth PMing him
  6. My list: 1 x road racing bike (Giant TCR Advanced ISP 07/08 T-Mobile) 1 x road training bike (Giant TCR Advanced ONCE) 1 x MTB (Giant XTC) 1 x track (Giant Track) I don't like Giant's much can you tell
  7. Another vote for the Specialized, the new S-Works with the BOA thingy are second to none. I have Sidi's and Shimanos and the Specialized trump them in every respect.
  8. There's an echo in here
  9. 82mm would be very twitchy in the slightest crosswind but offers the best aerodynamic advantage. So most of the pros sponsored predominantly by ZIPP since they have the biggest variance in profile of wheel available are running 404s (58mm) in the front and 808's (82mm) in the rear. I've run 808's in the front and back on track and they were awesome.ShortLegs2008-04-25 05:50:33
  10. Shimano's non-groupset component division.

I'll try explain further. A 1/1 gradient is 45 degrees and expressed as 100%. The calculation to get 45 is (100/100) ARCTAN = 45 degrees. For 12% the calculation is: (12/100) ARCTAN = 6.8 degrees On a scientific calculator to get this you hit INV (12/100) TAN and hey presto.

  13. I would recommend Eastons. They use normal spokes so your LBS will be able to sort them out if required. They're as strong as any of the other recommendations and my 109kg brother-in-law has had 8 months of wheel-hassle-free riding on his Vista's.

  15. Care to reveal your source and costs?
  16. Damn those doctors, what do they know . Oh well I guess a week off the bike won't kill me and recovering fully from a respiratory tract infection is more important than the last league race although I hate to admit it . Roll on the winter league...... there is a winter league right?!
  17. Yip, but not many teams with rebadged groupset components.
  18. Looking at the weekends news I noticed a picture of the Astana Treks on top of a team car at the Ronde. They're running Dura Ace cranks with a SRAM badge on the side, wonder why
  19. Look like Campy are copying Shimano , aesthetically speaking.
  20. Bet you that's the last time
  21. Always use baby powder (on the tube before installing ), and do as GO suggested and pump a little air into the tube which can then be seated in the tyre. Start at the valve (no brainer) and you should push the valve up into the rim before seating the first part of the tyre, after which you can pull the valve back out (never ever use the nut that comes with some tubes, definite no no). I also find popping the slightly inflated tube over the lip of the rim all the way round the rim so that is sits in the centre channel. I never use tyre levers, but a trick I learnt from MTB is to ensure that the section of the tyre that's seated correctly is as close to the centre of the rim as possible, thus giving a little bit of slack to the last little bit you're trying to pop over the lip of the rim. p.s. damn it's tough trying to write down descriptive steps for something that's second nature
  22. Got me a little black can with a red top for those nasty truckers
  23. Buy one and do the tazer-test; spray yourself in the face and if your not incapacitated for 15 minutes at least, try another brand Good luck
  24. Pros: Brake calipers/blocks look and sound like a decent improvement The carbon derailleur will be sweet if it looks anything like XTR Flight Space-deck Chain - it's about fr1gging time ffs Cables - neater is sweeter, scratch that off your arguments list Scampy fans Cons: The carbon cranks are rumoured to not go into production Carbon levers... looks a bit like following the rest of the pack to me Weight - will the groupset challenge RED/Record? 7800 compatibility
