  1. I recently adopted a tail with a kitten attached... Pippin has taken him under his wing as his minion... Gizmo Pippin with his minion
  2. I had a similar issue in january. The specialist who spent a good 30mins in consultation before scheduling op and then more time pre and post op plus follow up charged less than the anaethetist. And the latter offered a whole R150 discount to the r2000 I had to pay in, or to pay over 3 months. Needless to say I made the bugger wait for the money rather than taking the "discount"

    Who remembers?

Still always say I live down the road from the white horse inn. I iust can't bring myself to call it by its new name ;-)
  4. As a few people have correctly said you NEED to report incident to saps asap. Make sure to include description of driver and passengers in your statement. She might well be dumb enough to try nail you for the damages to her car but lie entirely about what happened and if you didn't report incident she will be given benefit of the doubt (right or wrong that is how our legal system works) Do go for physio because a haemotoma like that will not heal correctly on its own. You might think it has until a few years down the line you get permanent issues due to the scar tissue. Glad you are not more seriously injured and hope the b1t6h is found and made to pay for hit and run as well as damages to you and your bike.
  5. No pics on this tablet to upload, but gautenger cyclists know both of mine... yellow sv650 and white dr650. DR is in for repairs and don't like using sv in to town... been feeling a tad caged. Hate using the car this much.
  6. If you can do the 94.7 you can do the Kremetart. The trick is to pace yourself on the first climb and then find a decent bunch to stick with for stage 3. As spaaidy says, it's definitely the highlight of the year.
  7. Please keep spreading the word until this piece of filth is back in custody
  8. RIP fellow rider. Condolences to family and friends
  9. I don't care if it's a guy or a girl. It could be the sexiest guy on the plantet or some old woman, I will assist. Last year at the R4V of the 3 people I stopped to assist, 2 were guys (neither remotely sexy). I simply see a human in need, even if it's due to their own negligence.
  10. Rouxtjie, tjomma, I'm already dishing out enough so nothing to spare... but if you really are going to suffer don't dish stuff out but at least stop and not leave a person alone at the side of the road ... scotty's friend didn't even get that as an offer from his posting. I wish that people would state upfront when accepting assistance if they "pay it forward" because then those of us who do spend lots of money on helping would know who NOT to help ;-P
  11. I got as far as this reply... Yes, it costs money to help out. I've started events with 2-3 tubes, energy bars, whatever, and finished with nothing 2 tanks of fuel later and a whole day on the bike. I've cycled events and come close to last with no remaining spares. I've done training rides similar. End of the day, I prefer to have it on my conscience that I have done what I can to assist. Yes, I have even stopped to help a harley rider fix his m'bike when driving home from a cycle ride. Do good because it is the good thing to do, not because you want reward for doing it.
  12. For those of you with little ones (or partners) who need to be accompanied on either of tye shorter routes while you ride the long distance, the Rent A Cows will be available again this year. R150 (all of which goes to CHOC) will rent you a Cow to ride with your loved one.
  13. How about a quote of over R2000 from one zook stealership and got he work done for R800 odd at another... and bike is 100% after being fixed by the latter who have an incredibly good rep built up over the years (read decades). No one can tell me the first guys weren't chancing their luck big time.
  14. Ah, ivr32, then it would've been someone else, not sure who took the B's
  15. I'll mention it next time I chat to our "powers that be" :-)
  16. Congrats on finishing dude. You guys at the back are just as important to us as the guys up front :-) It would have been Mzee or Oom Johan with you right at the back
  17. Twombles it was Road Rangers NOT think bike who marshalled. Big thumbs up to the cyclists today... when I was going around keeping an eye on things after getting my bunch in, I saw almost no one over the white line.
  18. Done. Rounded off to R250. From FNB so should reflect tomorrow.
  19. I am 1.52m short. Yep, 5 foot nothing. Shorter than the majority or short people. I ride a men's frame with shorter stem and narrower bars. This results in a bike that fit comfortably whilst being lightweight, decently specced and not in girly girly pink or flowers.
  20. Horrific and tragic. Sincerest condolences to friends and family. Until people stop saying"oh, it was an accident" and the law stops being lenient on bad drivers, the carnage will not stop. "Sorry" is not good enough. People must be held accountable for their disregard of others, especially when their actions have or could have cost another person their life.
  21. Been here the whole time. There is nowhere to get decent coffee around here. Am going insane.
  22. Condolences to family and friends
  23. Kritzie, I am so sorry about your loss.
  24. Aw nunu! Those little feet!
  25. :-O glad you are kind of ok. I hope you took all his details and have reported this to the cops
