  1. very true. this is like weekend warrior bikers - you know, the ones that cyclists love to bitch and moan about... the ones who say "i will ride fast because i can" and "what's the point of having a fast bike if i don't ride it fast" and "everyone else must f-off out my way because i'm on a fast bike and i will ride how i want to. AND then have the cheek to cry when they get hurt and hurt other people AND then they always blame the other people Sorry guys, but the internationally accepted standard is those going up have right of way. and just because you want to be "mr cool" is not going to change that. and if you hurt someone (other cyclist, hiker, etc) it will be your fault. and no amount of screaming on your part will change that. and if you lack the conscience to accept that then again, that is YOUR problem. ALSO, mtb'ers on public paths are actually required to yield to all other users of said path (hikers, joggers, bird watchers, etc) so you should not be going faster than your ability to stop in time for slower moving traffic. if you are going too fast to stop then maybe you should go and attend a skills course and learn how to do so as you are clearly a danger to yourself and everyone around you (so if you fall into this category please list your name here so that the rest of us know who to avoid ever sharing a path with)
  2. Other than the mail problem (I got another subscribers' notification as well as mine) I like it. I enjoy the concept of the added "how to" videos :-)
  3. definitely either nerve or circulation. that it's cold and paler than the other leg actually sounds mroe circulatory. get proper scans done urgently - circulation is not something to play with.
  4. sounds like a pinched sciatic nerve. best you follow the doc's advice and soo the neuro BUT if they mention the word "operate" get a second opinion - this should be treatable by a good chiro under guidance of the neuro
  5. kauai makes some nice stuff. otherwise woolies have nike little veggie "snack packs" with cucumber, carrot and stuff like sticks
  6. tell me about it. i've got the opposite problem - 1.5m short and according to the tables i hit overweight at 54kg and obese hardly heavier than that :-( (yep, currently i am obese )

  8. very glad capt dura is ok. yep, adrenaline does wonders... when the navara flipped my car all i wanted to do as i extracted myself from the wreck was bliksem the guy... unfortunately it took a few minutes to find out who it was and to get to him and as i was about to deck him one i caught a glimpse of my hand and how swollen it already was and that stopped me in mid-action. if the f-er had just been able to stop closer to where i'd landed and not about 50m up the road with 2 other damaged cars and angry drivers in between he would've had a lot more explaining to do to his bosses and other people.
  9. pop shop, casettes, LP's, white Miami Vice suits... the stuff that memories are made of! depending what time i'm done at the saps reservists open day (my friends and i are running a boerie stand to raise funds for our own "charity) i might stop by
  10. i think cbrundson is right. i've also had that in the past when i thought i'd had a cold when it turned out i'd been a bit sicker than that.

  12. tinkerbell, that's not below R10k is it?
  13. yay - and the story has a happy ending. AND the hubbers know of another lbs to use in jhb
  14. tinkerbell, i'm 1.5 and a girl and i wear pink and i have long hair and long nails - ie i'm a G I R L and proud of it. A heavy bike (which any low-mid level wsd bike is GUARANTEED to be) is NOT fun. and hten you get tired and you have a heavy bike to pedal uphil. then you can't pedal anymore so you wnat to push it and it's 16kg of dead weight. the lighter the better - hence a good frame and decent wheels are what will matter. the rest can be upgraded later when she's more into the whole mtb thing
  15. any news yet?
  16. definitely an option, but just look at all the bikes in your price range and choose the best frame and wheelset as those will have the biggest impact at this stage
  17. mtb is where the difference in wsd and "mens" bikes is even more obvious - before you consider buying wsd first compare the same priced mens' version of the same manufacturer and you'll see that the men's one will have much beeter components etc for same price. then decide if you want to pay for a girly paint job, or would rather (seeing as she is clearly an athlete) buy her a decent bike with decent components. vinny does have it right though that new is better, so see what the best NEW bike you can afford is - frame and wheels being the most nb. as she get's hooked you can do the upgrade thing - bars, components etc.
  18. so have you forwarded it to Gert? and did they not apologise or anything to your wife while she was there?
  19. bwahahahahahahaha take it as a compliment
  20. eish, you guys who have the whole couples thing going are forcing me to open my mind to the concept of "maybe mr right will come along one day". hope your partners realise how lucky they are!
  21. easy solution - ditch the complainant! (joke!!!) i'm single so i don't have this problem but if/when i find "mr right" he'll turn to "mr notright" if he expects me to change who i am for him.
  22. ridwaan, watch that blood pressure!!! maybe it'll be open from mid-day!
  23. i always swore that i would never, ever, ever, over-my-dead-body ride a suzuki. and v-twins - not-a-chance-in-#$%%. then i agreed to test ride a zook sv (to buy as a temporary bike while fixing up my cbr). needless to say i will not get rid of either. i also always said (cycling wise) that ONLY a giant would ever really make me happy - the compact geometry was designed with me in mind. but i test rode a mongoose meteore and i bought it and love it. end of the day you have to accept - you don't choose a bike - the bike chooses you
  24. i've ridden with Bolle's and now ride with Rudy's when it comes to those with inserts. my eyes are not simply "oooh, i'm shortsighted" or whatever - i've had corneal grafts in both and have extreme astigmatism and relatively bad myopia. as such i have a VERY strong script and contact lenses are NOT an option (nor is lasic). due to weight etc the "low end" frames and inserts aren't an option. i love my Rudy's to pieces and will not likely every use any other sports glasses. prior to my surgery, while i could still force contacts into my eyes, i used more affordable specs - d'arcs and polaroids etc. they were fine for what i needed them to do. they just can not meet all my requirements now. if you don't need a hectic script (ie if weight and refraction of the light between the insert and the lens are not an issue) then look at the cheaper ones.
