  1. Was there last weekend doing the Enduro lines. They had a sign up saying all routes were open
  2. If you do the all the lines from the Gauteng Enduro you are in for 26km and 800 meters of climbing. It is fairly rocky and tech, but people completed all the lines on Epic Evos and Scott Sparks and survived.
  3. Thanks @Pofkat!
  4. The Silverback has the edge on weight and the fork. The Trek has the more progressive frame geometry and possibly the better groupset. Based on the riding you’ve said you’d like to do I’d go for the Silverback
  5. After my DNF at the Buffelsdrift Enduro last month I am keen to go and hit all the lines and get some redemption. I've messaged the Buffelsdrift crew on Facebook to try and find out if the trails are open, with no response. Can anyone confirm they are good to go?
  6. Erm, no. SID Select+ can only be bought with a new bike or second hand. Ultimate can be had on a new bike or on its own. Weight is the main difference between the two as the damper on the Ultimate is tiny. Neither model had compression damping adjustment, just open or locked out with low speed rebound adjustment. The Ultimate feels a bit firmer than the Select+. Both are very good light trail or XC forks
  7. Any of those high end forks will do the job regardless. Being disciplined and bracketing to get the setup dialed as well as following strict service intervals are more important than the actual fork and damper chosen IMO
  8. https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/dual-suspension-mountain-bike-frames/560730/2021-titan-cypher-carbon-frame large frame here. Buy the bike, swap the parts, sell the new frame. Assuming L is the right size. Prioritize getting the right size above all else or school fees will be due
  9. Pics or it never happened! Also a bike on the couch pic in the new purchase brag thread
  10. Also have a look at the SQLab saddles. GPM Sports brings them in locally. They are an awesome bunch to deal with

Excellent groupset. No complaints from me. Up spec the chain to an X01 version and you'll be good for many miles. B-Gap tension is vital to get right
  12. Please in the name of all that is holy no. Just no. We are not triathletes
  13. 100%. Maybe also have a look at the Epic Evo. @figjam_sa has one and has been very impressed with it. Or a Pyga Stage or Stage Max, they can take two bottles in spite of the vertical shock mount
  14. I'm going to throw a spanner in the works and say neither. Have a look at the new Trek Top Fuel. My reasons are as such: 1. Much better geometry than either of those bikes 2. In frame storage capability 3. No remote lockouts and the added complexity and maintenance that brings 4. Excellent suspension kinematics making the lockout unnecessary 5. 34.9mm dropper post for better reliability, especially for bigger riders I owned the new spark for a very brief period of time. Lovely bike, but the integration and proprietary parts mean maintenance is expensive and fiddly. The Titan is a tremendous deal for the spec, but the geometry is not very progressive. Geometry is the most important thing you are buying in my opinion as it is the basis of the whole character of the bike. The seat angle is slack and the head tube angle is steep. Great if you want twitchy handling, not so great of you want stability and confidence. The Trek just ticks all the boxes. I've ridden everything now on my Top Fuel, from the Wolwespruit jump line to the Thaba Trails XCO loop. It handles everything from the big jumps to the nasty technical climbs with aplomb
  15. Triggy is far superior to the Lyne remote
  16. Let us know how it goes. This makes my blood boil. A service provider messes up and then tries to cover for it by shrugging their shoulders and saying it is normal.
  17. Load of rubbish! All Twinlock Sparks should have three modes. Open, traction and full lock. If it was working before service, it should be working after service. What exactly are you experiencing issues with?
  18. Ridden that vintage of Scott Spark before. Very capable bikes and will not hold you back at all. A dropper post is a great upgrade for sure. Enjoy it 👍🏻
  19. Did you change the pad compound or brand with the new pads? If I was you I’d give the disc braking surface a clean with brake cleaner then a light sanding with some high grit sandpaper and then another clean with brake cleaner. Also hit the pads with the sand paper and clean with brake cleaner. After than bed the pads in properly and hopefully the vibes will be a thing of the past
  20. Treks at Taroko! Helping a pal get his Fuel EX dialed on its’ maiden voyage
  21. Elastomer forks, please never again. Manitou 3, Rockshox Indy and Judy where acceptable back in the day, but man are they rubbish compared to what we have now
  22. @Fred van Vlaanderenare you running the Hyrax flip chip in the high or low position? The high position might help get a bit more weight over the front wheel.
  23. low flying Pygas at Wolwespruit
  24. I saw some Trek Fuel EX in size S at Wolwespruit a couple weeks back
  25. I'd love an Orbea Rise personally. Not a full power e-Bike, but with more than enough gas to smash laps out at Wolwekloof
