  1. Upgraded the Pike with the new spec Debonair spring and some silver graphics
  2. Second time in a couple months this has happened. Sent an enquiry to a seller with an item that has been listed for several months. Sent the message at 10:00 with my details. It's now past 20:00 and the seller has been online since. Zero response. People say it's difficult to sell? IMO quite a few sellers are just so lazy they can't be bothered to make a deal happen. A little effort and good communication and most deals can be concluded quickly
  3. In terms of the shock, I wanted a piggyback shock. I almost had a DPX2 via eBay before it was deemed an “unshippable item” by the morons in their global shipper programme. One really nice thing about the Super Deluxe is that I can service the it myself. No serious special tools needed, like shock bleeders and nitrogen chargers needed for the the Fox DPS. In terms of the fork, I wanted something a bit burlier than the 34. The Pike fills the gap between the 34 and a 36 nicely. The Fox stuff worked really well, the fork especially after a Fractive tune, but I love to tinker so the new parts also help me get my fix in that regard
  4. Some new legs for my Trance 29. Now a full Rockshox setup vs the stock Fox setup
  5. Sho, I knew it was serious inside that plant, just not THAT serious
  6. There is activity there. See trucks and bakkies driving around in there most times I ride at Modders, not sure if it is explosives, but they definitely don't want unannounced visitors
  7. Where was that Pikey? Proper trails or just bushwacking?
  8. Been to Modders the last couple weeks and the trails are looking the best they have for quite some time. I'm hoping the second part of the "reed trail" is opened soon. I'd also like to know if the walking trails will be remarked anytime soon? There are loads of walkers on the MTB trails. This could cause some nasty accidents. @TAROKO TRAIL PARK can you give any feedback please?
  9. 172.5mm I do indeed still have them https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/cranksets/408359/shimano-fc-rs510-11-speed-compact-crankset
  10. Stock ones weigh almost a kilo and I found the 105 ones for a great price. So I took the plunge! SQ Lab saddles are a must for me, they are just so comfortable
  11. An SQ Lab saddle (plus some bottles thrown in by Mathias from GPM Sports), a 105 crankset and some Panaracer tyres for the Contend
  12. Thanks for the feedback!
  13. First bike purchased from Mr Impey for 24 years! The last one was a Schwinn MTB my dad got from him and for me a Nishiki. Can't remember the model, but I was so stoked cause it was 3x and had a proper granny gear!
  14. My new Giant Contend SL 1 Disc. Picked her up from Tony Impey Cycles yesterday. Looking forward to trying some road and light gravel miles on her
  15. No one is expecting a perfectly manicured trail, a rideable trail is perfectly adequate where one can see where one is going is what we want. This is especially valid when one is being charged for the privilege of using said trails
  16. Very disappointing to see. Hopefully early days still.
  17. That Lyrik looks boss! Let us know how the longer offset changes the handling
  18. Please let us know guys. Keen to go there on Saturday
  19. Chain Reaction Cycles
  20. They reviewed a Trail 429 recently. Same guy didn’t seem to think it was much of an issue. New Switchblade also didn’t elicit much of a Superboost put down
  21. To be fair, the whole Bike Mag crew are a bunch of elitist creeps and Palmer is probably the worst of them, but the initial feedback is positive. I'm waiting for Pinkbike to put out a full review, hopefully Kazimer gets the job. Though, in reality most of us will never own an Evil, so it's more curiosity to see how the mainstream brands will react and how our bikes could evolve in the next few years
  22. New Evil Following! So much of want!
  23. Assume this is on the XCO route, not the main trail?
  24. Ooooooh headshot! Loving the Trance for the time being. My frame of reference is limited, but it does everything I want it to. Climbs well and is a ripper on the downs
  25. I did indeed. It was flying under my radar before that review, now it is top of the (N+1) list. Pity the Trance 29 was not in the test so I could see how it did against my current bike.
